favorite rifle

Remington PSS, HS Precision stock, & Leupold Vari X-3 3.5x10. This is my 'general purpose' rifle from 1K yard F-Class matches to taking many deer in winter. It has seen a lot of wear but still puts shots exactly where I want them every time (almost ::o).

Any rifle I built.

These.

Can you really choose just one? Each has a different role, suits a different purpose. I can't pick one player when the whole team is great. :D

Tough decision bolts or semi autos??

Being a hunter I have to go with my Remington 700 BDL 7mm rem mag with a HS Precision stock along with a Leupold VXIII 4.5-14x50 LR Illuminated....Really reaches out there :)

It would be a toss up between the last sporter I built:

And my recently acquired Win '94 XTR Big Bore in .375 Win:

But who know, that might change once I finish the restoration on the Browning Safari Grade I just picked up.

JC Higgins

My 1950 JC Higgins model 50
Butter smooth Mauser action from FN.
.270 caliber holds a great 3 shot group, it wears a Japanese Bushnell 3-9.
Great rifle, a touch on the heavy side.

I am also very fond of a Savage 99 take down in 30 WCF. About 1920 vintage.

JT-AR-MG42:

That is a very appealing gun, and despite the high price (retail), the low ammo prices would balance things out.
Back in February '09 I handled one at Gander Mountain in Saginaw MI, by Fashion Square Mall. Have not seen one before or since except online.
There seem to have been very limited import numbers.

Having seen an original Enfield Jungle Carbine, and later handling the AIA version just before seeing Mick use his sporter Enfield #4 in Croc. Dundee #2, these brief exposures lit the Enfield fire, which has never gone out.

My Enfield "Jungles" have so much power in a handy rifle, it motivated me to buy my first (Lee) reloading gear.
The power, handiness of my Spanish FR8s (Nato 7.62/.308) make them just as fun.

Remington Model 7 in .308 topped off with a Leupold VX II 2.5x8. It's not the most accurate of my rifles but it is so light and easy to carry in the woods and will knock hell out of deer @ 200+ yrds.

Fickle sort that I am, I've found a new favorite since this thread was begun.

Ruger 77 in .25-06. According to the serial number, it was built sometime in 1971. I'm starting to work up loads for it, and this one is a shooter.

Nice one PawPaw. When Bill Ruger came out with the Tang Safety M77 in the 1960's I thought it a very fine finished classic style rifle. I ended up buying the rifle in 6mm Remington with a Redfield 3-9x scope. It was my one gun rifle in the 60's, 70's and 80's. I think you caught a good one ... congratulations.

I have several but I will say my Marlin 336 it has been with me for a long time and has severed me well.
