Favorite Polymer 45 acp?

Old school Glock 30 Gen 3. Hands down best natural pointing easy to control non-1911 is have ever shot. And it isn't just me, a lot of my friends and students, many of them beginners, shoot the Glock 30 well too.

I have been trying to talk myself into a 30S.

Admittedly, I haven't tried very many. However, I am certainly partial to my XDM 4.5. Soft shooting, accurate, and it's hard to beat 13+1 of 45ACP.

It is a very good option... literally a 19 (with 10 rounder) that shoots .45.

I was never a fan of the 19, but wanted a .45 carry gun. Had a Beretta PX4, and while it felt great to shoot, 9 rounds in a pretty much full-size pistol isn’t what I wanted. Fell in love with my 30S.

And while I was a critic of it at first, the SCD (Gadget) is a very nice addition, for that extra piece of mind when reholstering.

That entire package is my favorite.

The PX4 is such a gem in nine and forty. Sadly, dropping down to nine rounds really hurts the .45acp version. I think the .40 S&W version holds fifteen. Given how nicely it mitigates recoil across the board, I'd love to see them come out with a 15-rounder in 10mm. :)

FNX 45 tactical. This is my home defense gun with a suppressor, it is very quiet and won't damage my ears if I have to shoot it inside the house and won't wake up the wife.

Been thinking about the CZ 97BD. Shot it once at a range and liked it. Although a few rounds didn’t give me a lot of insight. Would also appreciate some feedback on it.

I only own 1 .45 acp that is poly framed. It is an M&P 45 full size. It is big. It is heavy. It goes bang when I pull the trigger. The point of impact lines up with the point of aim. I have carried it IWB without it printing without a bunch of trouble. It was a good investment that I am happy with.

I will repeat what has already been said, FNX-45 is my favorite 45. Its a smooth shooter with amazing capacity and pulls home defense duties.

My favorite is a S&W Shield.
No particular reason why - other than..
-it's ugly
-it's functional
-lifetime warranty
-price
- I wanted a single stack compact

Years and years and years ago, I shot a Gold Cup with God only knows how much money dumped into it to make it a real shooter.
It was like a magic wand in my hands, but, since it had been custom configured around another person, he could just edge me out.

Along comes a guy with a Glock 30 he'd just bought at the counter and wanted to try it out.
The three of us stood there amazed at how dead nuts accurate that thing was/is.
It outran both the other guy's Gold Cup and my Kimber (no slouch itself).

Since it performed it's magic in the hands of multiple people - I have to say it was all the gun and not the shooters.

Three of the other people commented on how typical that was for the G30.

As fate would have it....

A few days later, someone here asked about the most accurate stock .45 acp.
w/out hesitation I posted Glock 30 - - - and pretty near got who-hawd off the board.

14 rounders... for .40.

Beretta was smart when they designed the .45 PX4, as they just lengthened the magazine hole. Their stack was less than a Glock .45 double stack. In terms of handling, the .45 PX4 is a dream.

If you look at Glock (and for the record, I love my 30S... have big hands), they started with the original .45 frames, did the 36, did the SF frames (includes the 30S), then tried the .45 GAP to get the .45 in a 9mm/.40 frame. If Glock could go back to 1990/1991, and change the design of the 21, I believe they would have reduced the capacity to make the magazine narrower... in turn, making the grip thinner. Problem for them is 21/30 magazines have been standardized, so to move to a different design would be a crappy move...

If you don’t have larger hands, the 21/30 grip is like gripping a 2”x4”. I doubt that Beretta would do a 10mm... but would be neat to see.
