Favorite EDC 9mm

I carried Glock 19 for a a lot of years and still carry it once in a while. My primary now is a Sig P250C 9mm. It's a great shooter.

Hard to beat the G26 but at the moment I carry 40's and the Kahr CM-40 and or M&P40C

When I do carry 9 I do carry a G26 and or Kahr CM-9.

Credit to Arizona for the meme idea :D

I like an XDm 3.8 compact (so essentially a Glock 26) For me, its a great compromise of size, capacity, and I LOVE shooting it!

glock 43 wa s too small for our hands(my wife too) she went with a S+W shield. I use the glock 19 9 months and a SA xds 3.3 or a walther ccp for summer carry(when needed)

we like remora holsters

good luck with your decision

Sig P239 or G26 for me. I started with the G26 using a Raven Concealment Vanguard holster (AIWB) and noticed it was easier to conceal than a smaller gun on my hip. In the next few months I tried smaller 9mm's and .380's, but nothing worked as well for me until I picked up a P239. One range trip and I made the swap. Being an all metal DA/SA with similar thickness as Glocks (while being a single stack holding less rounds), it's not for everyone... But only one of many friends I've taken to the range preferred the G26 over my Sig. Most were new to firearms, so that surprised me as Glocks are one of the easiest guns to shoot IMO.

For similar size 9mm's, I also like the P2000sk (have since gone larger with a USP9c). The G26 carried a bit easier without having a hammer, but I've always been partial to DA/SA.

If I could do it all over again I probably would have started with the G19. At the time I thought it would be too large for CC, but I no longer feel the same way. I also knew that I would be moving to California, so the G19 lost one of its' major selling points for me (10 round magazine limits). And since I can no longer CC, my USP w/TLR is the loaded gun on nightstand duty along with a G42 for my wife.

For cooler weather a CZ P-07 (gen 2) or a FNS 9c accompanies me. During warmer weather the Kahr CW9 gets the nod. This combinatiom works the best for me at the moment.

If you really like Glocks, the G26 is hard to beat for concealed carry. I carry one every day, and it is the only Glock in my modest stable. There is nothing refined or elegant about it, but it is absolutely reliable and quite accurate and easy to shoot well. And it just tucks right in there under about any cover garment to care to don.

I carry the Sig P290 in a cheap Quest iwb holster. Easy to draw but not so easy to put back in place. I don't see that as a problem. Very comfortable at 4 o'clock.

I'll bounce around a bit with other options, but for 9mm I always come back to the Glock 19.

This is me. Especially since I dumped SIG after 10 years. Always had mini flings with the Glock 19 though.

Who knows... May get a 26 to back it up instead of the Model 60.

I'm thinking a 26

Since I've started this thread I have retired my Glock 43 from my daily carry (I'm not as accurate with it (obviously) - since it is so thin, I always seem to squeeze too hard and push to the left) I have big hands, and I am a big guy (at 6'-1" 220 lbs) so it just feels right to carry my Glock 19 (it's also relatively easy to conceal seeing as how I always wear loose polo shirts)... My father owns a couple of Glock 26's but doesn't have a 43, I am thinking of trading him the 43 for the 26...

I will use the 19 most of the time, but for the days that I'm wearing extra thin shirts (summer is coming in AZ) I was going to use my 43...

My question is, in your guys' opinions, and real world knowledge, would the slight difference in thicknesses between the 43 and the 26 really be worth the loss in accuracy I have with the 43? - I really like how the 43 absolutely disappears when IWB, does the 26 conceal almost as well?

If anyone has pictures to support their point of view, that'd be great!

Thanks everyone for your input!

Stay safe out there!

Wow! I am......

........Old School after going through this thread. I usually carry either an Astra A70 or a FEG High Power clone. All steel SA's . Both have been hard chromed by Mahovsky's. I carry them in Triple K holsters. Which have no love on most of the forums. Why, I don't know. They're very heavy duty and carry well with a good belt. I will admit to carrying a Ruger LCP on occasion. But I do prefer my SA's.

My EDC is an SCCY CPX. Gun is very reliable and extremely easy to carry. Sometimes I will carry the CZ-75, but not often anymore.

You really need to try this out yourself. For me, the grip of the gun is my biggest concern and what tends to print on my IWB. So I cannot carry the g19 IWB - it just doesnt work for me. But the g26 I can conceal perfectly. The G26 is my winter carry gun. The shorter grip makes all of the difference.

I also just bought a summer carry gun. I looked at the g43, tried it and the 42 but it basically printed the same on me as my g26 and I couldnt pocket carry any of them. So that width made no difference for me. The weight did but the width didnt affect printing at all even in my polos or tighter tshirts. I ended up going with a Ruger LCP since I could pocket carry it and it was a large enough difference from my G26 to make it worthwhile in that I would actually carry each depending on what I was wearing. I am a skinny guy. 5'11 and weigh 160 and muscular. I cant get away with much without printing but the g26 is perfect. Any larger grip and it just doesnt work. The width really didnt matter when I tried them all. It was the grip that made the difference.

But overall the g19 and g26 are two awesome guns. You are not going to go wrong no matter which you choose.

I’m not currently carrying a nine (alternating between Colt Mustang .380ACP and Para LDA Carry .45). I have carried one in the past (most recently, a Kahr PM9) and may do so again, if I find the right combination (e.g., more capacity than the PM9).

My experience with Glock is limited to shooting my BIL’s LEO hand-me-down .40S&W. My accuracy with it was approximately Minute of Barn and, as a result, I haven’t experimented further.

I do have the following experience to offer related to ported barrels (as usual, my experience only, YMMV):

I once owned a Springer Ultra Compact that came factory-ported (V10 model).

1.) I couldn't discern any difference in recoil between it and any other lightweight .45ACP I own, and I have more than the two.

2.) I fired it during the day, at twilight, and at night. The flash was impressive at night but I did not appear to be, in any way, "blinded". That, for me, doesn't seem to be a valid issue.

3.) I was skeptical that the ports would pass enough gas to do damage when fired in retention so I set up a sheet of copy paper in a frame. I fired the pistol a measured six inches below the paper not expecting even scorch marks. The upward blast from the ports blew the paper apart, burned it and blew it out of the frame. Not exactly scientific, but I quit carrying the ported pistol.

I have posted this before on TFL and have had responses which:

a) criticized my “study” for being unscientific (which, as a scientist, I readily admitted up front) and
b) denied that the exhaust from the ports has any power to harm a shooter

So, my opinion may not be representative. I still won’t carry a ported gun for SD if I can avoid it.

And, I still have eyebrows;).

Best,

Will

I recently picked up a Walther PPS and even though it's really for carrying those odd times the bigger ones don't work which is rare I love the little thing. Very enjoyable to shoot.

I really like the new Walther PPS M2, a subcompact pistol that I can shoot really well with

Until recently, a Glock 26. Now, a Glock 17.

I loved the light weight and (relatively) compact nature of the 26. However, shooting it has started to hurt my hand. As well, control of the gun has become an issue. (I have a low grade case of RA.)

I tried a Glock 19 and a 17 for concealment.....and found that I could conceal the 17 nearly as easily as the 19. So, the G17 it is. The longer sight radius and full-size grip do wonders for my accuracy. The 17 is stupidly easy for me to shoot well. Also, since I have begun occasionally shooting the steel challenge matches at a local gun club, the 17 does nicely for that, too.

HK P2000. Glock 19 sized, utterly reliable. I carry my Glock 43 when I need something smaller or for the quick runs to the store.

I've been carrying my Glock 19 over my 43 (I'm going to sell it) and use the money to buy myself a Gen 3 Glock 26 with the nitride tenifer finish (not that new crappy melonite finish they are using on the Gen 4's)... The 26 just feels so much better in my hand and with the shorter grip than the 19, it won't print as much
