Favorite 45

HK Expert .45acp...

I like the big HK USP Expert .45acp in lem(DA-only). The new HK45compact in lem is good too.

The SIG Sauer P220R DAK or a P220 compact SAS DAK has merit.

I carry a Defender, but I love my Series 70s.

Colt O1918 WWI Repro. Accurate, beautiful and as close to the original as your gonna get with a new gun.

My Kimber Stainless Pro Carry 1911 followed by my H & K USP Compact .45ACP, and then all the rest of my 1911's......

So, the answer is semi-auto.

well, for right now, i'd have to say the glock 30 on my hip has a slight edge over the ruger p97 in my safe, but circumstances could change once i pay off and pick up my dan wesson cbob and sig p245 out of layaway... :D

+1 EB Special Forces - especially the new Carry (Bob'd like the Kobra).
Any commander-sized 1911, but especially the Bob's--in addition to the above, DW CBOB and VBOB.

I can't decide which one is my favorite, but it's between my Sig P220 SAO, and my Kimber 1911.

I don't think I'll ever be able to bring myself to sell, or trade either one of these!

Sig and Colt

I have a number of .45s, and I think my favorite is a Sig P220ST, the all stainless model. Close behind is a Colt Gold Cup.

pogo2,

Sweet looking guns!!!!

I love the feel of those grips, but I could never justify the cost of them. I really want to get a pair of those G10 grips for my P229 SAS, but there again, I can't justify the cost. They are way over priced in my opinion. Hogue just has the Sig market under complete control, and they price them as they see fit. I wish there was another manufacturer that would compete in that market place to help bring the prices down to reality! I wish I had the money to start the business myself, as I'm sure there's a pretty good market for quality grips, and a lower price.

Cost of Hogue aluminum Sig grips

DBAR:

I also think the price of the Hogue aluminum grips for Sigs is very high - they are in the $140 range. The corresponding Hogue aluminum grips for 1911s are much cheaper - more in the $50 range, I believe. Of course there is competition in aluminum 1911 grips from Alumagrips in Arizona.

In Hogue's defense I will say that the machining on the back of their Sig grips is much more complex than on 1911 grips - lots of intricate cuts are required. So I'm sure that their costs are higher.

And the aluminum Sig grips are very functional, with good gripping surface and very good durability compared to plastic or wood.

Colt 1911

I got lucky with my first handgun pick 25 years ago when I chose the blue Colt with the big hole up front.
Now, I'd love to find the perfect satin stainless series 70 Commander, then a 3" bbl. S&W 625.

WC Professional

Mine is a Wilson Combat Professional with a lightweight alloy frame, bobtail and starburst grips.
