favorite .22lr

Gee, guys this is a hard one. I have always loved plinking with .22's, and have owned a load of them. My Italian made Weatherby XXII is the most accurate semi-auto I have had. An old Mossberg 46B is a blast to shoot with it's peep sight. Just can't miss with that thing. And it holds 20 L.R.'s. Anchutz model 1422DCL is a tack driver and is real classy. Remington #2 single shot is a really neat old rifle to shoot and hunt squirrels with. Marlin lever action Century Limited is a blast to shoot and a short, handy rifle to carry. Winchester pump rifles are also fun.
I think the Marlin lever is my all time favorite. Paid $100 for it at a gun show in 1988. Great buy and maybe 7,500 rounds ago....John

Wow! I'm glad I started this thread!! There are way more choices for favorit .22 then I had Thought. Keep this going lots of good .22s out there that make us feel good!!

I'm fortunate to have accumulated a reasonable number of .22LR rifles and they all shoot well.

I enjoy my 39A for walks in the woods and squirrel hunting.

The accurized 10-22 is for the most fun on metal silhouettes at any range. Also doubles for informal indoor target shooting. Scary accurate, it averaged .37" for 10 consecutive 5-shot groups at 50 yards!

The Rem 504 is best for offhand shooting at small targets. Extremely nice, shoots tight groups as well.

The 40X Benchrest rifle, is obviously for serious benchrest competition. It's the best-shooting rimfire rifle I've ever used. At one 3-target IR50/50 match last year, shot two 250's and a 249.

The Custom, Lilja-barreled, Fajen thumbhole-stocked Rem 581 with 8-32x scope is for informal benchrest and offhand shooting.

The 69A is for informal target and metal silhouette shooting, also nice for carrying and plinking. It's a lot of fun and occupies a special place in my heart.

The 521T, with double-peeps, for light target shooting. I like it, but it would be the first to be traded, since there are others I like better.

Of course, there's some overlap in function to accommodate my whims.

I actually have 3 favorites..an old 69A that belonged to a dear elderly cousin,my grandmothers model 75 cooey which ironically is 75 years old and a 9422 (1977 with 1/2 box of the original bullets)that I recently purchased after 30 years of drooling over them:D

I have two it would be hard to choose between,,,

And they aren't especially spectacular guns,,,
But they are more accurate than I am,,,
And they make me smile.

Both are single-shot rifles.

One is a Henry Accubolt in .22 LR,,,
After I got enough lok-tite on the screws,,,
I once put 5 rounds in the same hole at 100 yards.
I can't always do that (in fact rarely) but the rifle is always capable.

The other is a plane Jane H&R Sportster in .22 LR,,,
Now as inherently accurate as the Henry,,,
But it is just so sweet to handle,,,
I love break-open actions.

Neither of these rifles have anything special to brag about,,,
They are simply good shooters that give me pleasure.

I have always loved .22's. I think my favorite is a Marlin Century Limited from 1970. Like the oct. barrel, crescent butt and the brass hardware that I have let age to a nice antique yellow color. Everybody who comes around here likes it also.
I didn't realize I had so many .22's till I really looked in the safe.
Remington #2 rolling block
Winchester 1890 L.R. chambered
Winchester model 61
Remington #6
Weatherby XXII from Italy
Another Century Limited 1970 that is totally engraved with gold inlays. Not the factory copy, either. A real custom one of a kind rifle.
Mossberg 146B
Remington nylon 66 in mint condition
Anchutz model 1422 DCL
Marlin 1897 Deluxe made in 1899
06 Winchester with perfect bore.
I might even have missed one or 2. I like to shoot them all!!! Didn't realize how lucky I was till this thread made me look. Hadn't done that in years...Thanks, guys!
John

Tough choice, but probably my Remington 541T. Leupold Vari-X III 6.5-20 AO scope. Cranks down nice and close for the indoor range, and back out again for field work.

I gotta say....

I'm with Water-Man on this one! You just can't beat the Marlin Model 60! Of course, I'm thinking about getting a Henry in 22lr, with a scope if possible. That'd be great for hunting small game and plinking!

Remington 514.....
Picked up from a scouting surplus sale.

Next favorite - Winchester 67 --- was my dad's when he was a kid.
