favorite .22lr

Savage 64, Marlin 60, Ruger Mark II.

I probably have shot more Marlin 60s than any other rifle and they've all been good, solid, accurate rifles.

I'm told that Ruger makes a pretty good .22 rifle, but I have no experience with them.

There are so many .22s that I want to shoot, but at the top of the list is a lever action. The ones I've looked at are tube fed. Are there any .22 lever action rifles out there that are side port fed?

My favorite is the Remington 541-S. I still love to blast away with a semi-auto 22, but I don't do it as much as I used to. I have more expensive 22 rifles, but I like the Remington best.

I am not aware of any currently manufactured lever action 22 rifles that you load though the side like you might a Winchester M94 or Marlin 336. The Browning SA-22 was loaded through the stock as were some of the Mossberg 22 semi-auto from years ago.

I really like the 10/22. I have been impressed with the quality of mine. And if you get bored with the configuration you can easily change it up. Right now I have a 10/22 disasembled in my living room waiting on a shipment from midway. I got bored with the assault rifle set up with the folding stock, handguard, scope, etc. Maby because I'm not a kid anymore lol. So I stripped it completely down, and am installing a volquartsen automatic bolt release, extended mag release lever, replacing the rear sight, doing away with the scope and plugging the reciever holes, installing a green overmolded stock from ruger (made by houge and has ruger emblems on it) I reblued the dinged up barrel with oxphoblue from brownells. I also ordered a USGI web sling set up from appleseed. The idea is to have a cheap way to practice using open sights and a shooting sling. I just love the variety of parts and upgrades available for the 10/22.

My dad had an old Anschütz 1450 and I really loved it, I have easily put 10000+ rounds through that rifle and never had a loss in accuracy! CZ 453 American is also one of my favourites but a little big for a 22.

My Favorite 22LR is my CMMG AR conversion! Now I most certainly understand that it's not a tack driver but it is fun to shoot and it is accurate enough to hunt small game with.

When shooting 5.56 my AR is super accurate so it's a great combo!

I really like my 10/22's. One of them has a tapco fusion stock from the factory and its alot of fun. My favorite is my henry lever action. It's got a beautiful walnut stock on it, the action is as smooth as silk, and the accuracy is the best out of all my .22's. Its just a beautiful gun thats very accurate and a joy to shoot.

I really like my Colt/Umarex M4OPS rifle, very dependable and accurate.....my 10/22 is fun also. The S&W 15/22 pistol is a blast to shoot.:D

My Savage/anshutz model 164, made in West Germany, crowned free-floated barrel, Monte Carlo cheekpiece, cut skip line checkering, all on a .22 !! It doesn't get any better than that--plus, with the Mueller APV variable--it's a tack driver

Someone else has a Mueller scope!! And on a super nice gun!!

As my user name implies, I have 5 .22LR rifles (also two hand guns).

The rifles include a Cooper 57M with a Weaver T-36 scope, a Sako Quad with all 4 barrels and a Bushnell 24x, a Kimber SVT with another Bushnell 24x, and two 10-22s that have been modified so that all that remains is the Ruger receiver.
One 10-22 has a Butler Creek Barrel and Hogue stock with a T-36 Weaver scope.
The other has a Butler Creek Combo barrel and stock with a Mueller APV scope in 25x.
Both have Volquartsen trigger groups.

My most accurate and my favorite is the Cooper 57M. I shoot the Cooper when I want shoot a bolt action and put lots of bullets in the same ragged hole for bragging rights.
It is a great morale builder. It averages under 0.37 inches for 5 round groups of its 5 favorite ammos. Only the Sako comes even close to that. My Kimber SVT, although it is a quality rifle, is not in the same league as the Cooper and Sako when it comes to accuracy.

But my fun guns are either of the 10-22s. They shoot really well with the bull barrels and the good scopes. Both outshoot the Kimber bolt action.
The Match barrel version shoots slightly better than the far lower cost (about $ 125 difference) Combo barrel and stock combination. Both average well under 0.5 inches with match ammo measured over hundreds of groups.
Both 10-22s shoot their 5 favorite ammos (not all the same ammos) just over 0.4 inches with well over 100 groups measured. But the Match barrel has the edge on smallest groups across the board between the 10-22s. The Combo barrel version shoots about 10% less accurately on average but both are fun to shoot.

Another vote for the CZ 452. I have won matches with mine. That said, we had an old Marlin as kids, don't remember the model, and we used to shoot playing cards in the garden with it. I shot a groundhog in the ear with it at about 50 yards. Hard to beat a decent .22 LR inside 100.
