Does Velocity Offer Advantage?

Going off memory here as this was a thread on the S&W forum that was deleted a few years ago. One of the members did the math on the guy's claims of the number of autopsies he did that were murders.....they exceeded the number of total deaths in the Atlanta (IF I RECALL CORRECTLY...could bem wrong here) area where he claimed to have worked.

His claims as to the number of cases was, at best, hyperbole. I remember that thread, but it's been a while.

if zip don't matter why do we have the 300 Kong?

Not everything has a "link".

The 125g 357 Magnum and SIG offerings anecdotally have the same 'slap down' effect on people.
(Texas DPS switched from the 45 ACP to the SIG and notes this.)

We do not currently have the test mechanisms to determine optimum bullet weight / construction / impact velocity on people; we only have demonstrated effectiveness.

Counting on any cartridge is incorrect tactically. The proper tactical procedure is to weigh them down with lead (or in California, bismuth or copper). :D

9x19 147g modern-design bullets

Even the most 'superlative' of them has an launch velocity similar to the 38 Special.
Oddly (?), premium 38 Special ammo has moved to 129--135g weights.

I may try to apply logic to this conundrum ;)

Until then, I'll be advocating 124--127g modern JHPs launched in excess of 1270fps.
Or my 115g non-cop 1370fps or 1415fps JHP.
Weird note; my EDC big gun has some Winchester PDX 124s in it. My EDC little guns have Winchester 40g LRN in them
.

Really? Since when have .38 Special 148WC launched at 995fps?

Oh, that's right, they are normally more like 775fps-850fps...

Seriously, WESHOOT2...

There have been 38 Special SD offerings that utilize medium-weight JHP projectiles before.....some past 980fps.
Some, even, based on bullet weight, past 1K.

Let's take this further. Choose, please, either a moderrn 125--129g +P 38 Special, or a 124--127g +P 9x19.
Which and why?
