A good friend of mine carries a sig. They're great guns. I think they are high quality and very appealing to the eye. I just like the trigger to be the same from the first shot to the last. I have glocks too. I carry my glock around when I know banging the gun around is inevitable, for reasons im sure we all understand. The glock is my least favorite in the carry line up. Pst, dont tell my wife, but the 600 dollar CZ is about to surpass the 1600 dollar 1911.....

Make no mistake, I think that glock and sigs are wonderful firearms. Im just a single action hammer fired type of guy.

My Glocks get babied like everything else I own. The OP asked if any of us carry 1911's anymore so if you consider SIG's P238/938 1911esque, then add a DW CCO in rotation, I pretty much only carry 1911s.

Plenty of love to go around for all the other choices out there though...I just don't carry them.

I recently acquired the CCO to relieve the STI 4.0 I had been carrying through the winter. Great sidearm but I found it too heavy for all day CC.

I don't consider a SIG P238 or P938 1911 style. They don't have the grip safety and just aren't 1911's. Flat out. They're nice though. But there's that safety again.

Nice choice with the Dan Wesson though :)

I have in the past, but nowadays I strictly pocket carry, so the 1911s are just for fun.

I pocket carry a snubby at work, not my first choice but you gotta go with what works for a given situation.

If I decide to carry a .45, it'll be a 1911. The Glock 21 gets bedside duty in the safe.

Lately I've been on the 9mm carry kick, so its been a Glock or CZ.

I get those moods too. 9mm then .45ACP trips. Random cravings with random justifications that go on in my mind temporarily just because I feel like carrying it or not lol. I'm a capacity whore though. So that always supercedes.

I don't. Yet, I do like the .45acp cartridge. It's the 1911 frame and grip. It doesn't fit my hand well, and I just can't shoot it accurately. Also, I don't care for grip safeties. Ever since I picked up my first Glock 17, Gen 1, in 1988, I have never looked back. I now have several Glocks in various calibers, including .45acp.

It goes in cycles for me. I'll convince myself that capacity is king (through internet forums mostly...) and go to 9mm and be happy. Then I'll be at the range one day and shoot one of my 1911's and... its back to 1911's for a few months until I play the internet "what if I need 16 rounds before a reload!" mental game.

Either way, whatever I happen to be carrying gets the lion's share of the weekly range time, so the non-carry style gets neglected until its turn in the cycle.

jr24, literally laughing my ass off cause I do the same thing too sometimes.

Glad I'm not the only one :D

I forgot to mention my "in between stage" when I go with a BHP, until I want to go "bigger is better!" or "lighter is better!"

Then there's the crazy days when I feel like I just MUST lug a Glock 21 and 2 spare mags around.

A well-made 1911 is a wonderful thing. I've only ever owned or shot them in steel, which made them that much better on the range. That's the only place I'd shoot them. Call it superstition if you want but I just couldn't get comfortable with the combination of a sweet trigger, cocked hammer, and concealed carry. Even with open carry, I never liked seeing that hammer back. I typically carry SA/DA or a revolver.

You're killing me right now. I do that as well. Used to with the 41 at least. Right now I have my P229 on me with two spare 20 round mags! LOL

Personally, I don't suffer from any of those issues. I was weaned on a 1911 way back when, perfectly comfortable carrying them, have been practically my whole life. The key to handling the weight is good gear, a proper gun bet and holster make it all day comfortable. Capacity doesn't bother me either, when I started in LE I carried a S&W M15 and never felt undergunned. IMO, the positives you get with a 1911 - safety, trigger, accuracy, narrow profile, etc - far outweigh what you might be giving up in capacity compared to other popular platforms.
