Does a person who votes democrat have the right to say they support gun ownership

Yes they may say what they want

You can say what you want, but don't tell me you are pro-gun if you voted for Hillary, Kerry, Kennedy, Boxer, Feinstein, or Dashle. I don't care how much you gave the NRA or called these sorry wastes of protoplasm.

As to this guns turn healthcare debate. Did you know that before Medicare/Medicaid that healthcare for seniors was actually cheaper then now with this wonderous government program? Read Larry Elder's book for more indepth information along with the sources as my father is borrowing this book right now. Not to mention that Medicare/Medicaid is unconstitutional as it isn't a permission granted to the federal government by the Constitution.

In every country were partial to full socialized medicince program around the world is failing and bankrupt. In the closest example, Canada, people have had to wait up to 6 months to get heart bypass surgery and have opted to pay cash here in America. When any major foriegn leader gets cancer or some other life threatening illness where do they go? England? France? Canada? No they come to America and go to the Mayo Clinic, The Cleveland Clinic, or Mt. Sinai. We, even with our screwed up system, have the finest healthcare system in the world, envied by all.

You can sob story me all night about the poor "middle-class" who lost his insurance, but I sure don't want to pay for it. I have my own family to take care of. Where in the Constitution does it say the government has a right to steal my hard earned money to give to someone else. This county was founded on the principles of Life, Liberty, and the Persuit of Happyness and those on the left seem to think that the "Persuit" doesn't exist. Life isn't fair, and it is a rough thing, and the Constitution doesn't say the government is here to make life fair. All the Constitution does is say if you bust your a$$ and work hard we are going to keep the government out of your way to success. This country understood that up till the 1930's. It has been down hill since then and we are still full steam ahead.

Rich ... you make some good points and seem to know what you're talking about. Generally I'm not a pro-government regulatory kind of guy, but I would still like to see some short term protection. Don't want to screw things up any worse, though ...

dhooney -- compared to you, I guess I am a total marxist. Let the proletariot arise ...

But my whole point is that because at least emergency care is guaranteed (they can't turn you away if you're in need of help) we all end up paying for it anyway. Who do you think covers the bills for the doctors and medicine that the indigent and uninsured can't? It's you and me, either through increased fees or taxes. The $$ doesn't just come out of the sky. When the middle class person I'm talking about declares bankruptcy, you can bet the hospital's doctor doesn't NOT get his salary for that night just because the hospital didn't get paid.

The only way not to pay for other people's problem is to start having hospitals just turn away people without the ability to pay away and leave them bleeding or dying in the streets.

But as much as we Americans love our competitive society, most of us wouldn't stand for that. Myself included, as I don't want to return to the lack of social protections that existed prior to the new deal. Even though I know it's damned expensive and may hurt our overall GDP.

We should probably let this thread return now to discussions of GOP vs. democrats and gun rights.

Either someone can say what he wants or he can't tell you he is pro-gun if he voted for Hillary, Kerry, Kennedy, Boxer, Feinstein, or Dashle. Pick one.

Good post.......... and in my personal view Democrats shouldn't be casted to the roadside and considered not worthy of all rights Republicans have. This is America and without different ideas and view points what would we be....? The old Soviet Union is the title I would give it. If I were a Democrat this election doesn't mean I will be one in 4 more years. Just seems silly to sort people into catagory by one or two view points in life. :)

On Executive Branch election(s) I vote for the best person for the job. What if both candidates were anti gun? That would make it a real humm-dinger. That said I did vote for "W" twice now. I don't think Mr. Kerry was much of a duck or goose hunter but that wasn't what I based my pick on. ;)

And take a look at medicare/medicaid -- many times more efficient than any private insurance. The doctor's just don't like it because it limits how many millions of dollars they can make.

That's funny. I thought the doctors didn't like it because it took a lifetime to get paid, Medicare would determine how much it would pay after the procedure was done (nothing like denying the doctor the benefit of his bargain), and there were teams from DOJ whose sole job was to find Medicare fraud, and the more they found, the more job security they had, leading to essentially manufacturing of allegations.

does a person who votes democrat

I am pro-gun, pro-choice, faith-based Republican, I have on occassion voted for a Democrat Candidate, based solely on the issues and gun rights is not the sole issue albeit, the one that most people base their vote on. :)
