Do you still own the first gun you purchased?

I started buying firearms around five years ago and a conversation with a friend of mine has made me want to ask this question of other gun owners. I still own the first gun that I purchased although it just sits in its case untouched. Even though I have no real urge to shoot it and there are plenty of other guns that I would prefer to have, I just find it difficult to make myself sell it because it was my first. It isn't a rare model, its just an old Sig Pro 2340 in 357 Sig. Its not even in pristine condition. Is anyone else like this or did you folks just sell your first gun when shooting it stopped being fun.

Note: I do not mean guns that hold a significant purpose because of who gave them to you. I have a couple of old shotguns that came from my dad that will under no circumstances be sold. I am meaning the first gun that you personally purchased and that holds no distinction aside from being your first personal purchase.

Yes because I bought it this year. Ithaca Supersingle 20 ga. other then that the rest are hand me downs from my father which as you said, will never be sold.

I have the first gun I ever purchased with my own money. An 1858 Remington clone I bought when I was 12.

Yep, Remington Model 700 BDL I bought used in high school via Dad. Taken many a hog, deer, and aggressive pieces of paper...;)

It originally had the early, narrow BDL stock. I replaced it with a later model, thicker stock. Still a beauty, wearing a Nikon 3-9X40.

I have the first gun I ever owned, which is a Marlin 22 rifle given to me by my father.

The first gun I ever bought with my own money was a Mossberg 500 20ga. I gave it to my brother many years ago (20+) when I bought my 870 12ga. He still hunts with it, so I guess it's still in the family:)

Yes, a very used (when I bought it, that is, and more so now) Western Field (Montgomery Ward store brand, manufactured by Nobel) 12 gauge pump shotgun that I bought many, many years ago just a few days after it became legal for me to do so. It was, and is, a cheap piece of junk and I thoroughly loved it. It served me well, on the skeet and trap fields and on all kinds of game from duck to deer. Eventually the headspace increased to where I became afraid to shoot it any longer, but by that time my fortunes had improved to the point where I no longer needed to. It still sits in the back of the safe and I take it out every now and again to remember some good times of my youth.

The first centerfire rifle I bought with my own money is long gone, traded for something else, which is also long gone. Same for the first shotgun I bought with my own money, except I had to sell that one for cash (and at a loss) when things were tight.

The first centerfire rifle I ever got, I still have (thank you Dad), and I still have my first shotgun (16th birthday present). Those guns aren't going anywhere, except to my children/grandchildren when the time is right.

The first handgun I ever bought, I still have. Browning BDA .45, bought new in 1980. I don't see that one going anywhere but to the family, someday, either.

I have a Ruger p89 I bought in 91 or so. Can't even imagine getting rid of it as it is still my daily truck gun. Sure I have others that are more ergonomic, accurate, and pretty, but non more reliable!

I still own the first gun I purchased, a Mossberg 835. Been a great duck/goose gun so far. My first gun (dad got it for me for 12th birthday), 20ga Rem 870 youth, I do not own anymore.

Yes ... Taurus blue steel 85 ... have had it for more than 20 years, still works perfectly ... rides in my glovebox when I can't carry on my person ...

Yep. Remington 870 express. Bought it 21(?) years ago. I still hunt with it. I have bought other shotguns over the years and none of them ever seemed to carry as well as that one. They're gone but its still in my safe, waiting for spring turkey season...you'll have to excuse me I'm getting verklempt

That was my first gun also. A gift from Santa in 1966. My son has it today. A good little gun.

The first one I ever purchased? A Sears-Roebuck double 12 ga. Nope. Long gone, and not missed a bit.

Yup

Ruger 10-22 in 1980. Being 15 years old mom actually made the purchase. The $109=tax was all me though. Fantastic gun. That Rotary clip is pure genius.

Yes ... my Springfield M1A. It was the first rifle I ever "purchased", but I can't tell you when ... but it was a long, long time ago.

I also still have the first firearm I ever owned, a Marlin 81DL that was a Christmas present when I was 10.

I also have the first firearm I ever shot. My Dad's old Winchester M-67 .22.

Yes, I'm one of those guys who buys guns ... and can't bear to sell them!:D

I'm up in years, but the first rifle I bought was a used 25-35 model 1894 Win. I was 14 yrs old and paid $37 for it at a auction sale that my dad and I we to. A half a box of shells came with it. The shells are gone. I still have the rifle and me and the grand kids are still shooting it.
