Do you still buy factory ammo?

Do you still buy factory ammo?

Absolutely! When I see a good sale price on factory ammunition that is quality stuff I buy it. Once fired I have the brass.

Yes I do. I buy factory ammo for the following reasons:

1) To break in new semi-auto handguns.
2) For the brass - which is why I buy Winchester White Box - because it's the best brass.
3) For carry and home self-defense (Speer GD; Hornady XTP). Because using handloaded ammo in a SD situation can be legally sticky.

I have unopened cases of WWB of both 38 Special and 45 ACP.

I usually have something loaded even before I pick up a new handgun or rifle. I load to book OAL at first just so I can work up a load.

Sometimes though I will pick up a box of standard REM or Win and like mentioned above, use them as a standard to work up an equivalent load.

I buy factory ammo occasionally to have for those times when someone shows up at our personal range and wants to shoot and they are not family or close friends. It ain't that I don't trust my reloads, just the opposite. If I didn't trust them I wouldn't want family or close friends to shoot it.

Bought commercial ammo when I first got into shooting. Now for the past 12 years I shoot my own reloads. However just got my first AK47 and will not reload for it as steel ammo (Russian) cheaper to buy then reload. :o

Yes, I do, I won't use reloads for sd. I've
M still picking up and using pistol ammo, nine mm, it's not that expensive, I probably would buy some .223.

I buy factory ammo, specality loads mostly,
Now I keep the brass and reload...
I'll always buy shot gun shells, .22LR & .17HMR, any other rimfire,
A couple oddball rifles, .218 Bee for example, I shoot infrequently to bother loading for...

Shotgun birdshot loads I buy almost exclusively. I can't reload that cheaply, and they suffice for my needs. I only load heavy field loads, buckshot or slugs.

I did buy some .300 Blackout awhile back, when I couldn't get brass and was too lazy to make another batch from .223. :o

I keep defense loads stockpiled in .223 and 9mm to some degree, but haven't bought them in probably over a year.

bought a box of federal match as a control to see if it my reloads or the rifle, since matches have been won with this ammo

I have but not often . I almost bought some last week . Turns out I really don't like reloading . Well actually I love it when I want to load but not when I have to . Last week I took my nephew out and upon looking at my stash I realized the rounds I'd be willing to just blast away were quite low . So there I was the day before cranking out a few hundred rounds . It got old fast . :o

I buy factory ammo in the calibers I also reload for two reasons. First, if I'm letting someone else shoot one of my guns, particularly a newbie, I only let them shoot factory ammo. I'll risk myself with my reloads, but not someone else. Second, for testing new, new to me, or borrowed guns. I'm still working on my "arsenal" and want to see how a new gun works with factory ammo before introducing reloads and I won't risk a friend's gun with my reloads. YMMV.
