In todays society shootings can and have happened anywhere.
I don't think BG's consider anyplace off limits.

I carry to church, to daycare, to football and basketball games, and virtually everywhere except Federal Buildings where everyone must pass through a scanner, certain concerts, airports and other places with scanners, etc. I have even had to go back to the car many times with the wife fussing because of unforeseen metal detectors. Granted, these days I may only be carrying an LCP but its better than nothing.

I am sure my pastor wouldn't want guns present in Church but a gun is just an inert tool.A gun is not good or evil. It is the operator that does good or bad things with such tools. I don't think guns are morally off limits anywhere.

Anyone elses thoughts?

Why not?

Here in Oz, we can't carry..... but if I were you and there was no law against carrying in church, why not do it?

Murphey's law says the one time you really need your gun, is the one time you aren't carrying it.... so, if you are allowed to carry, carry always :D

what do i carry to church? my wallet. michigan will not allow us to carry inside the church. so i could take it as far as the parking lot, but i would have to leave it in the car.

As more and more situations occur in more and more varied places, I become less and less worried about the legalities of where and when to carry. I am NOT advocating anyone break the law, but...read my tag line.

You have GOT to be kidding.
Oh, bother.

Is there some specific reason not to carry wherever you may be, outside of legalities of the law?

[note: Any law that specifies no carry in churches, is interferring with religion - supposedly, a constitutional no-no]

As long as it's legal (which it is in Texas), I don't see why you wouldn't.

Is this really true? My parents live in Texas still, so I'm particularly interested. I found this from the NRA gun laws site:

It is unlawful for a handgun license holder to carry a
handgun on the premises of: a government court; a business
that derives 51 percent or more of its income from the sale of
alcohol for on-premises consumption; a school or educational
institution, high school, collegiate, or professional sporting
event or interscholastic event that is taking place; a hospital or
nursing home; an amusement park; a place of religious worship;
a polling place on the day of an election; a meeting of
a governing body; a race track; a secured area of an airport; a
correctional facility; a correctional facility or within 1000 feet
of such, on the day of an execution; the property of another
after receiving notice that concealed handguns are forbidden
on that property. It is unlawful to possess a firearm in a penal
institution.
It is unlawful for a handgun license holder to carry a
handgun while intoxicated. It is unlawful for a handgun
license holder to carry a handgun and intentionally fail to
conceal the handgun.

Yes, I do. I doubt that anyone besides my wife and perhaps a couple of the local LEOs I've attended classes with is aware of it. I take great care to keep my weapon(s) and ancillary items discretely concealed at all times. I'm known for not being a "hugger" with casual acquaintances, which hasn't hurt in maintaining that discretion either.
