Absolutely I don't carry at work. I thought about it for a while, but then I lost my carry guns, ammo, and holsters in a tragic boating accident on the way to the office.
Oddly, my employer's policy is specifically vague. It says that weapons are not allowed, but that exceptions may apply per applicable state law, whatever that means.

LOL!

My first thought was to say "no," but then I realized the only job I have now is a part time one as an independent contractor. I have no idea if the company I contract to has a "weapons policy" or not, but I know they have seen me carrying and never asked me about it.

So, yes, I do.

A strict company policy of "NO FIREARMS" is enforced. Most of us work in the field, with company owned vehicals. This policy extends to these vehicals. As a field supervisor it's my responsibilty to enforce this rule.

Even though we respond to call's on a 24 hour basis, and must respond into some fairly rough area's. So... when I do truck inspections... somehow my guys always seem to know in advance. I never find any firearms in company vehicals.

I did have a time explaining what my company truck was doing at the local county shooting range a few times. (customer relations)

I dont advocate that any of our emplyees go about company business armed.
It's a personal choice, at personal risk. Get caught with it... and you'll be kicking rocks... Get caught without it... you may be pushing up dasies.

I'm a LEO, obviously I carry on the job and off, but I'm also a respiratory therapist at a hopsital with a "no weapons" poicy for employees. After a talk with the HR Director she and the CEO agreed to waive the policy for me since my dept requires me to carry, plus it's very small rural hospital with no security to speak of so there's a benefit to the hospital also.

Interestingly, during our discussion the subject of CC permits came up and the HR Director asked if I felt the hospital should be posted as a "no carry zone" like other hospitals in the area. I told her no, the only people it would affect are law abiding citizens that had met the training and background check requirements of the state, and that anybody carrying illegally would ignore the signs anyway. I was shocked when she agreed with my logic and said they'd leave things the way they are. We may be the only hospital in the state that allows concealed carry on the campus (except for employees:().

Pretty much everywhere I have worked, except Brinks, was a no weapons deal.
Like someone else said, even have gotten grief over pocket knives.

CCW at work

Use to CCW at work when I was working for Jefferson Co. PSD in Wv until My Supervisor bumped into My front pocket while working at a Pump Staion with Me. He asked Me what that was and I told him a Colt Detective Special as I was slated to collect past due accounts from dead beat crack heads with pit-bulls answering there doors and they all pay in cash ! Even the workers ( who were Black, not that that matters, but I'm white and wanted full disclosure as to not appear racist ) from Charlestown Water Dept who had to join Me to shut off the water if no payment was received carried .38's daily . 1/2 hour after the pump station I go back on My rounds when I get called to the office, I know the routine so I just go in and as soon as they open there mouths I toss the name badge on the desk. Better to be without a job than without a life. I didn't care for the job or any of the 3 other workers so I really didn't care about losing the position. Bad economy or not. The economy can get better, dead doesn't change !.....WVleo

Like many of the posts already, I work on a military installation and cannot carry at all. I need my job way to much to get arrested and lose it just because I do not agree with the policy.

Because of a guard and fenced in parking lot, I was(retired) not even allowed to have a gun in my vehicle while parked in the lot. AZ. recently passed a law to allow guns in vehicles if in a public employee parking lot, but not if fenced in(private).
Therefore I was glad I didn't have to go in to work very often(worked at home) since I would have to be w/o my trusty .45 while commuting.

I work on an army base. No one but the bad guys are allowed to carry.

I dont care and carry anyway.

They trust me to shoot a MK-19 40mm grenade launcher but, I cant have a sub compact 9mm in my belt. STUPID STUPID STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm retired, but at my last job, they were rabid about no weapons at work (I did carry a 3-inch folder), so I left my gun in my car, locked in the glove box. I had to be at work before 7, so it was often dark while I was traveling and parking; having the gun just made good sense. But I didn't want to start looking for another job, so I didn't carry inside.

I live in the People's Republik of Illinois, have very limited rights to speak of involving firearm ownership, CC, and other Second Amendment related issues. I have to go in to, shall we say, not so nice areas in Chicagoland just about every week in the course of doing my job(insurance adjuster). Heck, sometimes I even get people ticked at me because something's not covered or there may be a question of depreciation or betterment. Can't make everyone happy all the time. Sure does make me sleep well at night knowing that I may not come home the next day because I am at the mercy of the response time of the boys in blue, should I be able to alert them that I am in trouble:rolleyes:. I know we are still probably years away from CCL here in Illinois but it seems we are finally headed in the right direction(pro-gun governor candidate Bill Brady should mop the floor with anti Pat Quinn). Hopefully there will be much turnover as far as Illinois state government is concerned and we can soon become citizens instead of subjects.

Each day you see him you should bring up something about guns - laws, holsters, your weekend trip to the range, etc. That'll keep him on his toes

You'll love this, spacecoast. I come in this morning and we have this one area in the building on the first floor that you don't need a badge to get into. So I nicknamed it the 'Lunatik section'. The guard asked me why I called it that and I said - "Well since you don't need a badge to get in there, that's the door the nut job who DOESN'T work here will go through to get his target rich environment."

The guard grins and says "He'd have to get through me first and I'd have the alarm for the police going the second I saw him."
"Are you armed?" I asked him. He admitted he wasn't.
"Then when the cops got here and found you, you'd be face down maybe 10 feet from this desk down that hall and the bullet holes would be in your BACK and not your chest, there'd be a number of tragically slain employees through that door and after all the dust settled, you'd be awarded a commendation posthumously for having the presence of mind to push that panic button before your unfortunate demise."

He stopped grinning.

He stopped grinning

... and started thinking (hopefully). I'm not an advocate of everyone going to work armed to the teeth, but complete prohibition (with severe penalties) creates target-rich gun-free zones that just invite bad things to happen... as we see all too often on the news. If you're in an urban highrise and have to go out to an unguarded parking garage or go catch the subway in the dark of winter, it seems silly not to have a means to defend yourself.

I answer only to the owner of the small business that I work for and she knows that I carry. She has never asked if I carry at work, but I assume she knows that, at the very least, there is one in my car.

I have known my boss for a very long time, and we are quite close in terms of friendship. She is not a gun person, and is quite liberal by nature (after all, she is a 40-something democrat lesbian), but she has no problem with other people owning and carrying guns. She knows I'm responsible and we have somewhat of an unspoken don't ask/don't tell policy about my carrying at work.

As long as I work hard, my boss really doesn't bother me about anything. I'm one of the lucky ones who happens to really like their job/boss.

If I do have it with me it's in the car. I would never get it out unless an emergency came about. It would be worth getting fired if it saved someones life.

As LEO of course I can carry. However, I do not understand the fact that most places will not allow concealed carry. Most...and I stress MOST people who CCW are good, honest, and legal carriers. My problem is that by posting, because in Kansas a buisiness has to have it clearly posted with the proper sign to qualify, no carry it only invites criminals. To me it basically says "HEY, come on in, take what you want, kill whoever you want, CUZ NOBODY HAS A GUN IN HERE" That is simply my opinion on that.

Now I'm really not sure why anybody is concerned about not being able to keep a gun in their vehicle while they're at work. Other then having it there when they get off work for the ride home or whatever, because if somebody comes into your place of employment and starts shooting up the place, what good is that gun that is probably at least 50-100ft away and hopefully in a locked vehicle, which you may not even have the keys to on your person!

I'm not trying to start anything or offend anybody, it's just MHO
I do carry off-duty, pretty much all the time.

My employer's policy is "No ILLEGAL Weapons".
Several of us have carry permits and do carry. We all carry concealed but it's no secret. Some on their person, others in a briefcase or their car.
Recently, one of the managers was going to terminate a worker known to have a temper. He notified me to be aware of any disturbance and to come running if one arose. Nothing happened but co-workers were happy I was there that day. My office is at the back door between the office area and the shop.
