I always carry a knife unless I have to fly somewhere. I usually carry my gun. I carry a Benchmade 710 and it easily fills the role of tool and defensive weapon. I remember going to the airport (before 9/11) and I realized I had my knife on me. The lady was going to take it, but I told her it was like a $120 knife and that I had a concealed carry permit (meaning I had no criminal record). I told her I carry it every single day and just forgot. She let me just throw it in my carry on and go through. I don't think I would try that now.

I think it's a good idea to carry a knife when you ccw.

Anyone ever see the episode of Family Guy, when Joe and Peter shoot that guy? I found it to be funny, sick, educational and justifiable all at the same time.:D

I always carry two knives. One that would be used for self-defense if the need ever arose and one for work use (cutting boxes etc…)

I also collect knives and right now I am having an affair with everything Benchmade. I am currently carrying my model 580 barrage which is an assisted opener and it is a phenomenal knife! It is built extremely well and opens with authority…it is by far the best assisted opener that I have ever owned or handled.

It has been hard for me to find a good online retailer that has good prices and knives in-stock and ready to ship. But I came across the Oregon Knife Shop recently and I think they are worth mentioning (http://www.oregonknifeshop.com/) they don’t have a huge selection but from what I have seen their prices are fantastic and shipping and customer service in top notch.

Sorry for all the blabbering

I find all this stuff about zero tolerance about knives carried to school a bit unreal. I have had a knife in my pants pocket since I was 6 years old. Never missed carrying one during 12 years of public schooling. No one ever said a word. I even lent it to teachers from time to time.

For the last several years I have carried 2. I have an "Old Timer" in my front pants pocket for opening boxes, cleaning and trimming fingernails, etc. and I have a Cold Steel Recon 1 clipped to my hip pocket for more serious endeavors.

I carry an S&W folder in my right pocket and a Leatherman Blast multitool on my belt. The Leatherman is just so handy, it's like having a mini toolbox at your disposal, but it takes too long to get the blade out if it were ever needed as last ditch SD, hence the folder.

I will check out Oregon Knife Shop, but you might want to check out www.knifeworks.com . I have been buying knives from them for over 10 years already. Prices and selection are great, and I have never needed to contact them for customer service.

I just checked out Oregon Knife Shop. They do have great prices! I think Knife Works site is a bit easier to navigate and their selection is huge. I might have to start shopping at Oregon Knife Shop as well!

Unless prohibited by law, I always have a folding knife on me. Currently, it's a Kershaw Tanto Blur. While my knife isn't exclusively for self-defense, I always try to choose a model that would be suitable for that task should the need arise.

I ALWAYS carry a knife. There are some times when I do not have a gun on me. There is never a time when I don't have a knife on me. If I'm at the beach, I've got a knife.

robhof

I usually carry a swiss army, but when I lived in South Miami; I carried a 10" bowie on my belt while fishing, in town I carried it in my boot. I also carried a 357 Dan Wesson with 8" barrel in a cowboy rig while fishing, the only hassle I got was from the Marine Patrol. They told me that I was asking for trouble. but I replied that I was advertizing against trouble.

i always carry a CUDA with a 4in fixed blade. and canvas handle. i fill just as confidant with it at close quarters as i do with my ccw.

Sig 239 and a SOG.

I always have a Spyderco police model with G2 scales and a very sharp plain edge in my rear pocket. A very nice and comfortable folder. Nice Spyderco's are not cheap, but not out of reach either. I do wish it sharpened easier, but that is just the nature of the stainless steel. Aside from a Buck 110 I used to carry on my web gear, this is the only stainless blade I have. I have "a few" knives so to speak.

A really nifty little thing I sometimes carry in a concealment vest, is a Bark River Micro Canadian fixed blade. Orange micarta and a D2 blade. I like it just for the cool factor, but it has proven to be useful. The D2 steel takes a wicked edge.

I always have a knife clipped on my right side pants pocket. If a pistol is not in my waistband, then it is close by in a concealed carry shoulder bag with a couple more extra knives.
We have a lot of great knife makers here in Oregon; Gerber, Kershaw, Benchmade, and Columbia River Knife & Tool (CRKT). There is always a quality selection of local brands close by.
I have recently been carrying a EDC Tanto Blade with g-10 grips by CRKT. It is extremely light and tight. It also holds an edge well and is fairly inexpensive. Gotta love BIG 5 sales!

I do knives. I make them, design them repair them, and collect them. Mostly automatics.
I carry a little Queen penknife, and A SOG Flash 1. They are no more for defense than my car keys are. I do carry a gun all the time.

I've carried a pocket knife every day since I started to ear long pants I suppose. Nowdays it's mostly a Swiss Army knife. The toothpick and tweezers get more use than anything I suppose, but they're handy to have.

So is the knife.
