Do you carry a gun if you...

What do you mean? Alcohol only makes guns more fun. Just kidding, I never have a gun on me when I go out to drink or whatever.

Let me see if I've go all this correct: It's OK to carry if you're not over 51% sloshed and your BAC is less than .08 which works out to be .0408 unless you live in Colorado then you must weigh over 300# and only eat at resturants w/bars but not bars w/resturants in which case you must eat at the Lone Star Steakhouse in only El Paso county.

What we need is to pass a law which says your right to bear arms cannot be infringed or something along those lines. Something like this may sound radical but I think it might work.

RKBA!

Umm--bit of clarification on the .08% BAC.

In Texas, all that is required to prove DWI, FWI, BWI or PI is that you have a)consumed an alcoholic beverage, and that b) you are impaired.

You can be arrested, tried and convicted of any alcohol related offense even if your BAC is .02%--as long as it can be proven that you were impaired.

The .08% BAC is simply the point at which everyone is impaired.

;)My father in law, Ed told me a story on the subject. In the old days and I do mean old days, he died at 87 years. He and his brother had been out sampling some home made, er cough medicine (80 to 90 proof). This led to riding horses and eventually waving guns in the air. The medicine and his favorite 32 pistol made him feel like super man. Things were fine until dad found out what was going on, quick to intervene. In the morning Ed woke up with a hangover and without a 32. Dad explained the pistol was somewhere safe. Ed asked when he could have it back. His father pointed to the window, the one with the river on the other side. “ If you can find it it’s yours”.

For the Coloradans: I just spoke to Tammy Gugliotta, the Concealed Handgun Technician for El Paso County. She advised that you should make a judgement call when going in on whether the place is a bar with a restaurant or a restaurant with a bar. If you're really indicisive, ask the owner. She said, "Lone Star and Bennett's would be fine, but Bennigan's probably wouldn't" I asked about the 51% rule, and she said that although it's not written in stone, it's a good rule of thumb. So, yes, you can carry into a place legally , even if they serve alcohol.

Drink and drive all you want. Just don't drive on my street on your way home from the bar and risk running over my kids. How do you think I would respond?
Drink and carry all you want. But if I see some drunk on the street pull a gun, How do you think I would respond then...?

Amen to what I'm hearing here. If you have got any sense at all and really care about the future of guns in America and the people around you, you'd better lock 'em up if you're gonna party! If you are responsible enough to carry, then you better be resposible enough to do it right and NOT mix alchohol with guns. Safe shooting AND drinking is a must these days.
