Bringthelove,

I'm tired of you people who feel they are powerful because of their vehicle. You speed down the highway, run stop signs and red lights, speed through school zones all the while talking on you cell phones, changing radio stations and/or cd's and tapes. You don't pay attention and cross medians running into the poor mom driving her mini van full of the children, you rear end me because you do makeup in your mirrors, tailgate or engage in horseplay with other teenagers in the car. You also think you can handle a few beers then drive and get away with it in court because "you claim to not know what you were doing".

Then my car is damaged and I'm permanently disabled while you continue on your merry way. Now I might not be able to work for a while, thereby reducing the tax base everybody including the children rely on.

You should turn in your high capacity V-8 engines and gas guzzling, poluting urban assualt vehicles. Only then can we "really" save the children. Someday we will make you ride horses and bycicles as you don't need your instruments of death and destruction. The police won't be involved in high speed chases trying to catch you either. Thereby reducing their risk of injury. :p :p

Has anyone else noticed that the person in this string advocating violence and destruction is one of those "enlightened", diversity-celebrating, tolerance-advocating members of society??

I think LongArms is right...pay this cretin no mind. No amount of logical, rational dialog can sway people like this. It's too difficult to change the mindset of individuals when they "feel" something.

It's complicated to find answers to violence in society, and even more difficult to address the causes. Blaming Guns is an easy scapegoat, and the Klinton-crowd hammers fear into the minds of their followers.

To paraphrase a line from some movie, a person can think, feel, and tell the difference between good ideas and bad...PEOPLE are stupid, frightened herd-animals. They can be led like sheep if given the motivation. And we all know what kind of motivation fear can be.

So, bringthelove, even if you are some miscreant troll, I wish you no ill-will. As a Marine, I signed a contract saying I would defend to the death your right to voice your opinion in public without fear of retribution from the state. Even out of uniform for 10+ years, I still would. Cherish your freedom, even if brave and courageous men and women gave their live in defense of something you would willingly give up for the sake of feeling safe.

Lovey:
Middle-aged, college-educated female person here. Envision this:
You are alone in your home; awake or asleep, no matter. Someone breaks in with the intent to rob, rape or perhaps kill you (since you have seen him). The mayhem begins. What will you do? Dialing 911 is an option; perhaps he will wait a moment while you dial and explain the problem. Okay, then maybe 30 minutes later a squad car arrives.
3o minutes--a random time frame, but no matter. You are battered, bleeding, and have been sexually assaulted (from which you may not recover for years, if ever) -- now, that is IF you are still alive.
Are you morally superior because of that? Do you have so little regard for your own life?
That intruder, whoever it is, will ALWAYS have a gun. Laws mean nothing to him, obviously.
People where I live almost all have at least one gun in their homes. Incidents like I have described happen perhaps once in 10 years. Can you figure out why? Aggressive, criminal, assaultive behavior IS NOT SAFE. It's that simple.

While you're here, read some other threads, such as "The trouble with 911" and "elderly lady killed for her Lincoln." The people who post on these boards are neither criminals nor predators; they are fine people who care about their families AND themselves.

Yes, we urge you to think about your words and actions - During the time before the CCW referendum here in Missouri, one person told me that if he were in a restaurant, and knew someone had a concealed carry permit, he'd take a steak knife and stab them, and take their gun away. I never could manage to reason with him that if someone is legally armed, it's okay. He was firmly convinced that guns were bad, guns were evil, and by their mere existence, they were endangering him...

It's interesting to note the folks who question their neighbors at length about "do you have firearms in the house?" before they let their kids go over to play, but who don't inquire about such things as how household chemicals are stored, availability of bicycles and scooters, and accessibility of swimming pools, etc... Then when the kid turns 16, mommy and daddy rush 'em down for a driver's license. Some of 'em even get their own cars. These things all present VASTLY more danger to children than do firearms.

During the seventies, we lost people from my high school to drug use and motor vehicle accidents. We didn't have anyone shooting anyone else. Heck, some of us would even take guns to school, because we expected to go hunting afterwards...

Well that explains everything, look where blissninny, er - I mean bringthelove is from! The PRNJ! We've just got a dose of what our poor TFL brethern from that state has to live with everyday. My heart goes out to y'all.

This statement is perhaps the dumbest thing I have ever read, I wonder if he/she needs help getting dressed.

Hey ya Bonehead! One third of all murders in 1999 were NOT committed with a firearm!

The rest of your piece is so much crow food. If you want to live in Utopia, you need to get the lobotomy first (or, maybe you already had it...)

Hey fool !! It's " Their dads " . And while we are at it the split second the dad kills the kid he becomes a criminal . We don't want these people around any more than anyone else . You are trying to get an otherwise law abiding bunch to be classified as criminals . If guns are banned and someone breaks into your house with a gun would you run them off by telling them they are in violation of the law ? Will you put a flower into the barrel like the kids at Kent State ? What we do for self defense is none of your business . What you DON'T do for self defense is 6 O'Clock news .

I suspect that some here don't understand the concept of "troll" in online forums. The word is more related to trolling for bass than it is to the "troll under the bridge" type troll. In other words, a troll is a person looking to get a rise out of a forum, not a squat, ugly supernatural being. (though they might be both, for all we know.) Thanks to Gusgus for the additional information.

Troll? Could be ... look at the signature:
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Guns don't kill people,

Forgot to turn it off, huh?

After all, haven't we've been saying Guns don't kill people, People who own guns kill people ...

Axes, bows/arrows, knives, ball bats, chains, sticks and stones, and even pillows ALSO don't kill people; and they generally have to be in motion to do it ... and aside from nature, I'd guess that only "People" put them in motion.

H#*L, I've lost my caboose of thought. So much for old age.
