Disgusted! Armchair Commando-ism and Pulblic Admissions of Guilt

The sad part is the MCCS (DOD) employs the clerk on a (rather large) military base. Bad (and wrong) information (I'm not even calling it advice) on top of hinting at illegal modifications to weapons (foregrip on a pistol, bragging how he made his fully automatic) in what is FEBBIE land (NCIS, CID, FBI, etc). I mean, this guy is in a holding pattern to pick up a few chromosomes.

However, this pattern of behavior isn't limited to MCB Camp Lejeune. This BS, machoism is like wildfire in our (gun) community. We, as responsible gun owners, need to snuff out this madness before the Zealots get one of these a**holes on tape and then we are back to square one. Think, in relative terms, Marilyn Monroe and her effect on women's lib and social progression (ie, setting it back 50 years):p

You are Very right in wanting to change the bad habits of a salesman.
I think we ALL should realize that things only change when we the consumers step up and demand the change.

There is a right way and a wrong way to do this. The right way is to speak to management. Let them know what was said - how it is wrong - and how you think it hurts their business. Some managers will brush that off. Letting them know that you are doing them a courtesy, before calling corporate, will sometimes be all that is needed.

For Mom & Pop stores It’s a bit different. My thought is to "suggest" to them how to improve their business, and get repeat customers.

Hhmmm...I guess I'm the ultimate arm-chair commanda...no guns, no ammunition...just like to hang out on forums.--Patrice

How are people like this selling firearms? Really? Misinformed, admitting they go outside the law, snobiness. Every day I sell more stock in humanity.

Unfortunately misinformed, snobiness, and just plain stupid has spread farther than firearms salesmen. IMHO, it has reached epidemic proportion around the world. So many people spew so much crap, I'm amazed.

When I was a kid, I was taught "if you don't know something, keep your mouth shut and listen". Nowadays one 'blow-em-up' movie along with 60 seconds on the Internet, and we've got a professional gun slinger.

If you want to hear a bunch of bull@#$ and false statements just get in a conversation on The Bible, firearms, or electricity ( I hold a Master Electrician's License, Wyoming #M1090). And I have been studying The Bible and firearms all my life. Ignore these people, you are only casting pearls before swine when you try to argue with them. Research your purchases, shoot before you buy, get to know the owner of a good gun store. Practice, Practice, Practice

A 12 shot .45?
I have an 11rnd magazine for my Colt Govt Model. And it works.
If you want one you can buy a big ugly drum mag for your 1911.
I did, 25rnds, and it doesn't work.

You can supposedly under our right to free speech discuss any illegal act you want, as a hypothetical. However, considering the state of current law regarding conspiracy and terrorism, I don't think you ought to.

You can be at the bottom of a well, under a bridge, at midnight, and if the agent monitoring your conversation feels you are conspiring to violate Federal firearms and explosive laws, you might face prosecution. You and your friend might find yourselves characterised as a "leaderless terrorist cell".

You ought to be able to avoid a conviction, after all, we have free speech, and it was just a hypothetical conversation, but you will enjoy all the benefits of our current legal system, if the right people decide to introduce you to them.

Gun salesmen, sporting goods counter clerks, etc. unfortunately are often very much like car salesmen. Some will tell you the truth. Others won't.
And its up to you to know the difference, and deal with them appropriately.

In any group, one percent or so will be idiots. Except shooting. There the percentage is more like 10 to 20. Sad fact. The sport attracts idiots. You will hear and see more nonsense in a gun store and at the range than anywhere else. I have a very highly developed BS detector and I will almost always just walk away.

"These Kimbers are nice and pretty, but if you need to go in to the bush, Glock is what you want. Put it this way... I show my Kimber to my friends, and I show my Glock to my enemies!"

"Now a Glock will get it done but you might consider a revolver if you are worried about leaving evidence behind. See, the brass stays in it so you don't have to pick it all up AFTERWARD."

Not sure I'd disagree with either of these statements. :D

I guess we're lucky around the Triad area of NC. Except for Gander we can usually suss out decent prices on about anything among the seven or eight good mom & pop stores, and the guys working these M&Ps are generally very sharp. They can, however, sometimes be incredibly rude, which is about as bad. Like the asshat at the gun counter of a certain indoor range off of 421 N. west of Winston who cost himself an AR15 sale by being a jerk for no reason at all. LOL.

I just take my money where they treat me like they want it.
