Disappointed in the Glock grip

I prefer the M&P's grip to the Glock grip. However, I own several Glocks and no M&Ps currently.

The Glocks just have so many other things going for them, one of which is that I happen to shoot them well, despite the somewhat awkward grip shape.

Ive been hating my G17 grip since 1993 but I love everything else about it. I tell anyone who dont know just grab a 2x4 and voila thats what it feels like.

stop

Come on guys, even though I was disappointed in the grip feel of the Glock 19, it certainly DOES NOT feel like I was holding a "2 x 4". Stop with all the exaggeration!

I had the same experience the first time I held a Gen 3 Glock 17. Hated it, couldn't shoot it, it was uncomfortable, etc etc.

Years later I tried a Gen 4 Glock 21 and somehow started to love it. Ended up with a few more Glocks.

NOW, the Gen 4 Glock 19 fits my hand perfectly, only surpassed by the 1911's and BHP.

I like M&P's fine for the ergos, but I sure hate the triggers (even with APEX). I can shoot em fine, but prefer Glocks or other options.

So, I guess, give it time and maybe Glock will grow on you.

I wouldn't say that the Glock feels better in my hand than any other pistol. I have large hands. Very large. I wear anything between an XL and a XXL when it comes to gloves. I've owned and shot pretty much everyhing out there. I just sold my VP9 which I loved but to be honest I shot my Glock better. I shoot Glock pistols best. The reset, break, and grip angle are just conducive to accuracy in my own hands. Granted, many pistols feel better to me when I pick them up. I don't shoot those better. I guess that makes me a fanboy.

To be honest though, I've never experienced the finger groove thing a lot of you guys have. I have very long slender fingers, so they fit very nicely into the grooves. My biggest problem is with length to the trigger. I have extreme difficulty with pistols like the Kahr P380 and PM9 due to their long break toward the rear of the trigger guard.

I tried for many years to dislike Glocks. They are everything that is "wrong" with modern firearms and have no soul. That being said they are also the line of handguns that I shoot the best even when compared to some very expensive soul filled handguns. I have no idea the reasoning behind why I shoot them better than I shoot reportedly superior guns but I do.

This is not the case for everyone. If there are other firearms that do the same job that you are more proficient with, for whatever cause, than you should use those firearms.

My first gun was a G19. I knew no better. My second semi was an SP-01. Night and day in terms of comfort and pointability. For me, anyway.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that if Glock decide to do a Gen 5 I think it should focus on making their ergos more comfortable for more people. When you see what the grip on other polymer guns look like: VP9s, PPQs, P-09s etc.

If they can do it any reason Glock can't?

About a bazillion mags now floating around that probably would no longer work in the new guns.

This is still a user issue, and nothing more. If you learned on Glocks, then all the other guns will seem off, until you shoot them in and your brain registers them. Then its a non-issue, just like it is when the situation is reversed.

My point is not an issue with grip angle.

This is purely about the way the grip, whatever its angle might be, is finished in relation to the anatomy of the hands that will be hold it.

If one compares the attention to ergos on a PPQ and those on a Glock, the Walther has smoother lines and I don't see why Glock could not change the outer form to some degree whilst leaving the inner mag channel exactly as it is.

Interesting read. I feel like I must be missing something. 6 months ago I walked into a gun shop looking to buy a Sig P229. But after holding about 10 different guns I thought the Glock 19 felt the best and brought it home. I even walked in the store with a unfounded disdain for Glock.

Is this like asking 100 people who likes Nike better than New Balance for shoe comfort?
