Different look at caliber for SD

"I'm guessing you are a proponent of the theory of hydrostatic shock, where high velocity and kinetic energy can produce "remote wounding effects."
No, I like big slow hard cast bullets with the largest meplat possible. The new load from Buffalo Bore is exactly what I like, a full profile, aka maximum meplat, .45 Colt 225 grain hard cast wad cutter at standard pressure. Just looking at that bullet makes me concerned for the target. Even at 1,000 fps it will penetrate in feet, not inches.

I was just comparing Buffalo Bore's standard .357 Sig to their +P+ 9mm which shows how much more gun the .357 Sig is even when you red-line the 9mm.
Buffalo Bore is a beautiful thing.

When it comes down to it, there is nothing that the 357 can do in a human body that a 9mm can't. Yes, there is more power and velocity, but not enough to make a notable difference in effectiveness with any reliability.
I disagree.
While I'm comfortable carrying a 9mm para, I also realize that there are more effective calibers for self defense.
I've seen folks shot with the 9mm para and I've seen folks shot with .357 magnum, and there is definitely a difference.
