Didja buy a handgun with your tax refund?

Ironically enough I just finished filing my returns.. looks like ill be getting my new ruger SR9c sooner than I expected :D.

I didn't have my refund earmarked specifically for anything, but I did buy a Ruger MkIII Hunter and a Remington R1 in the month after receiving it, as well as the dies and components to begin reloading .45 ACP.

I probably would have since I have a Gen4 G-22 and a Ruger SR1911 on my list, but I found an opportunity to snatch up a couple more scarce left-hand Mausers instead. :D

I don't get tax returns because I don't believe if giving the government my money any earlier than I absolutely have to. So I plan each year to end up owing about $400. That way I get a little bit of my "tax return" in every paycheck.

WOW, so I guess we are gonna turn another thread to government bashing tirade???
Don't like paying taxes? Move somewhere else where you don't have to pay... Monaco, Panama, Bahamas ... whatever ... wait .... they don't have second amendment, do they ?
This thread is not " why didntja get a refund" nor "why dontja wanna pay taxes", this thread is about what did you buy with refund money. Didn't buy ? DON'T POST !!!

Paying taxes is a little price for the kind of freedom we all enjoy here. Most of you whiny little mongrels don't realize how good you got it here.

Now back to the topic and Aarond:

That DW is great, the barrels change takes no more than a minute or two and while you do need to sight them if shooting longer distance, for anything less than 15 yards they get pretty close.
But I really start enjoying that short 4 inches barrel and just blasting beer cans with 44Mags from the hip :D

It is not bashing to pay as little as possible as late as possible.

If you send me $100 right now, it will be returned next April 15.

Feeling better?:D

My Tax Return

Well I guess you could say that my tax return indirectly led me to buy my g21 gen 4. I put the actual tax return money away for my fiance's engagement ring, which I will be giving to her when I go on leave :D so I was able to spend some of my paycheck for the handgun. Very nice looking DW and python you have there Vladan.
I do not loan money to the government so they can give it back to me without interest. I pay about $500 every year.
It is nice not to pay the government taxes but that only happens 6 months out of the year when I'm overseas earning that right. This is a handgun post. I have my disagreements with the government as much as the next person but lets stay on topic here

Will you guard my house 24/7, die for my freedom, feed me food 9/10 of the world only dreams about, and provide me with an opportunity to make another countless 100 bills?

Yes, I didn't think so

Everybody's patriot until it comes to their valet

Great decision... good luck and best wishes, buddy and thank you for your service.

What a decision to have to make,,,

Engagement ring or a new handgun,,,
In actuality though, that's a no-brainer question.

But she would always wonder why I call her ring "Python". ;)

To quote the old knight,,,
"You chose wisely."

Hello vladin:

But I really start enjoying that short 4 inches barrel,
and just blasting beer cans with 44Mags from the hip.

I had always wondered that about the interchangeable barrels,,,
Many years ago I had a choice of inheritance guns,,,
It was a Dan Wesson .357 with 4 barrels & case,,,
Or a matching pair of Colt Frontier Scouts,,,
I chose the Colt revolvers.

Hey, I was young and ignorant. :o

The federal government does not even do all those things.

Stay out long enough and you do not have to pay ANY Federal taxes.

We used to make sure our overseas field folks stayed out long enough (even if it meant giving them weekends in Canada when they came home for training).

330 days to at least exclude a chunk of income ($92,900).

See IRS Pub. 54 for the gory details.

you have to be careful if you are on orders and covered by a SOFA though.
You may owe local taxes to the foreign country.

I might have the new NEOS by this Friday,,,

I have been hearing about a slow-down at Buds Gun Shop,,,
But I just checked my account and my order will ship tomorrow morning.

So if UPS does their thing like before,,,
I'll have the new pistol before this weekend.

I just arranged to take some paid vacation time,,,
I have almost six weeks of leave accrued,,,
I'll be off from the 23rd through the 1st. :D

I have the annual Spring yard-work to do,,,
But that labor should be done by Noon of each day,,,
Then it's off to the range for some fun and beers later on. :D :D

I have three NEOS pistol barrels to sight in with their new Holographic optics,,,
As well as the Carbine barrel because I replaced the optical scope with a red dot sight.

Then I have the H&R .357 Handi-Rifle to sight in,,,
I changed the scope mounts to higher ones a few weeks ago,,,
And I put the scope I had on the NEOS carbine back on my Mossberg Plinkster.

Then I might as well check the zero on the H&R Sportster and the Henry Accubolt,,,
Who knows, my big old Maine Coon cat might have messed with the turrets.

Yes, it's a good thing I didn't spend all of my tax return as yet,,,
I'll need a bit of that for all the ammo I plan to shoot. :D :D :D

It's gonna be a nice 10 days off.

I have a new Freedom Arms....large frame...4 3/4" octagon barrel, 5 shot ...in .357 mag ....( single action revolver ) ...on order since early January ....and they tell me, they hope to ship it by the middle of April ....

so I'll consider it a tax return /spring ...gift to myself...( when it gets here ) !!

a desert eagle in 50 caliber has calling me ever since I learned how much I'm getting back. I hate magnum research for destroying my financial structure.

Seriously dude? *** is wrong with you? I think you owe me an apology.

At no time did I bash the government.
At no time did I say I don't like paying taxes.
I pay my taxes. I pay them and I don't complain.

The only reason I made my post was to subtly remind people they don't have to give the IRS all the money they owe ahead of time. You can be short up to $500 every year and the IRS is 100% fine with that. If you are getting back $1200 at the end of the year to buy a gun then what that really means is that you are giving $100 more than you have to each month to the IRS and losing the use and benefit of that money in the meantime. I am sorry if I think people would be better off spending that money paying down existing debts or saving it than giving it to the government just so they can give it right back without interest.... Or you could even save it up and buy a couple guns throughout the year instead of one at the end when your money is returned to you.

TAX TIME

Picked up a glock 29 sf and a 30sf plus a bunch of 10mm brass, heads, holsters and 45 heads. Now i have to find the money to go shooting !!!!;);)

I don't get a tax return, so no. I'm with Arentol. If I get a tax return it is because I made a mistake in planning.

But, I needed to buy a used car recently. My budget was $8500. I managed to find the exact car I was looking for at almost exactly $8000 with all tax, title and licensing included. So I took most of the $500 left over and bought the used Glock 21 I've been wanting. Got the car and the gun on the same day. Didn't have to trade one of my current guns in on the Glock. The gunstore found that the gun actually has 3 magazines rather than the 2 I'd been expecting. Good day!
