started shooting handguns with a couple rented .22's at the nearest gun range. wasn't terribly impressed with them, i of course wanted to shoot the biggest guns they had. so i ended up putting about 50 rounds through a Browning Hi-Power in .40 S&W, i liked that one a lot better :D my sisters liked .22's though, they used to cut out the center of their targets and send them to me when i was in boot camp.

these days i've got 6 blackpowder revolvers and a muzzleloader. i would be over-joyed if i could buy so much as a .22, but it's tough being a gun nut under 21... :(

My first cartridge shooting gun was a .22 rimfire. But, my first actual shooting was with a .36 cal. navy cap and ball pistol. My grandfather thought I did well enough and was serious enough that we went to the store(really dating my self here)Sear and Robuck and came home with a Youth Model single shot 22 rimfire rifle.

My first handgun was an old used Iver Johnson
.22 snub nose. What a POS!, but it would fire every time, if the cylinder didn't bind up!:D

My first was a Marlin model 60 (22LR). It is a supremely accurate gun. I still own it and love it. I have since moved into a big bore craze, but still enjoy my 22s also.

Not counting the BB gun,

.22LR rifle. Dad let me shot the .22 revolver under his supervision, but the rifle trailed along with me a lot those first years.... Gopher hunting, target shooting, all good growing up. Not until I was a late teen did a .357 enter into my experience.

I bought a 1911 off the streets of Saigon in 1966, . . . my first handgun.

Played around with others, . . . kinda like the dating scene, . . . gotta check out what is hot today. First love won out.

You'll probably never guess what my carry piece is :D

May God bless,
Dwight

First handgun I ever fired was a .45acp in a battered 1911A1. First rifle was a 5.56mm with a M16A1. Both at Parris Island.

Learned very quickly :)

First gun I ever shot was a 20ga shotgun when I was young at a hunters safety class. Fast forward many years to owning my own firearms, started on .22 first with 10/22, then a Sig p226 in .22 as my first handgun. Now I'm in danger of expanding rapidly to all sorts :D

First gun I ever fired was my dads 30-30 first handgun I fired was a S&W 629. The first rifle I owned was a marlin 336 30-30 first pistol I owned is a sw9ve.

Started out with a Colt Huntsman .22lr and seems like I'll end up with a .22lr. A few years ago when the ammo went up I got back into 22s and I've had a ball ever since!

yes, I started with a .22 ....and I still use a .22 a little in my training ..especially on revolvers.

I use the .22 sometimes to get some time with a full sized gun in and out of a holster ....no recoil on the .22 ....but its still grip, bring gun up, work the trigger, trigger control ...etc.../ I use the conversion kits a little on my 1911's ...for some training.../ especially with new shooters.

My first handgun was a Taurus PT92 9mm. This year I purchased a Ruger LCP and a Heritage Rough Rider revolver with the .22 LR and .22 Mag cylinders. I still have all three and am looking into a nice .45ACP as my next addition to my small collection.

I started with a 9mm, not because I thought it would be the best to start with but because I needed a handgun for safety after my wife received some threatening calls.

Shortly afterwards, a Ruger MKIII came home with me and has done more to earn its keep than any other pistol. :-)
