Did you ever get BS from autoloading pistol owners for owning a revolver?

No, because most of my friends are like me. They like both revolvers and pistols. It is hard to imagine someone not liking either.

Hello. While I do shoot autos much more than revolvers, I like both and use both. I noted a previous poster's comments concerning the auto shooters who could truly shoot didn't make fun of the wheel guns. Bahahahahaahha! That says quite a bit, doesn't it? Those who know, know that Jeff Cooper's old comment concerning the mind being the weapon and the handgun the tool does ring true.

While I wouldn't want to face either, do you think your survival chances would be better facing some crackhead punk with the finest customized 1911 around at 10 yards or someone like Clint Smith with a single-action box-stock Ruger Blackhawk? He's known to be poison with a 1911, but I'll bet he could get the hits with the revolver and it'd wouldn't require many shots, probably one. The great Mr. Mickulik (sp?) is known for his machinegunl-like ability with the DA revolver; I'll bet he could "put the medicine where the pain is" with about any handgun, be it revolver or semi.

As another poster stated, both types have their strong and weak points. Such is the case with most anything, but it's my belief that in the hands of a competent shooter, either will turn the trick.

Of course, for self-defense, I'd rather have a long gun as would most of you, but I do believe that the handgun is dependent upon its user in whether or not it succeeds or fails in its mission, rather like the user determines if the inanimate handgun does good or evil.

Best.

BS is as BS does...

Consider the source and most of the time you can dismiss it. Others, who know thier stuff, probably won't be giving you BS for carrying a revolver because they know better and usually will have at least one of thier own in the rangebag.

My Glock owning young adult son made a little fun of me for owning a model 60--until, that is, he picked it up at the range. I gave him some .357 to run through it. His eyes got wide, he kept wanting to shoot it, and he never made fun of me again.

Mike when the autoloader makes fun of your wheelgun and then brings back a target with holes all over and misses too, casually coment that they have a unique shotgun. Ask what brand and model it is.

I havent gotten any comments from anyone..but plenty of "strange" looks. I shoot my snubbies and at some point always pull out my Kahr or now my PCR.
Anyone with an attitude towards certain gun makers or types have either alot more experience than I do and know something I dont or is just plain ignorant to the facts.
I love, carry, own and shoot both s/autos and wheels.
Shoot well

One shot at a time.
Past is gone
Next is not here yet.
Now counts

Platform doesn't really matter.
But for some reason I can't find any of my autoloading handguns around the house. Had a lot, kept none.

Besides, I think in base six math anyway.

The guys whose opinions I'd listen to, wouldn't ridicule a cap and ball pistol if that's what you decided to shoot. I can't remember anyone telling me even joking, that my revolvers or 1911's weren't up to the task.

Shot a combat match a couple months ago. I was only shooter using revolver. Dragged out my .38 Special S&W Heavy Duty M20 (Circa 1956). The last stage involved drawing and firing two rounds on a fast moving target. Out of about 150 shooters I was only one to hit the target with both shots.

Last time at indoor range I pulled out 5" nickeled M27. Buddies with hi-cap 9s and tricked out 1911s snickered. Pop, pop, pop went the 9s. Boom, boom, boom, went the .45s. KA-PHOOOOM went my 125 grain JHP at 1,725 FPS. Dust fell from ceiling, windows rattled, everyone flinched at tremendous noise and six-foot muzzle flash erupting down-range.

Reeled in target. Hole at top of X one inch from dead center.

Started to put up fresh target. "You only shoot one round at each target?" buddy asks.

"That's all I need," I reply.

Like others, I have found that the only people who talk trash at the range are usually beginners or very poor shooters. I shoot both semis and wheels and would never second guess an experienced shooters choice of firearm.

young punk with a glock couldn't hit the target at 21 feet but he hit mine in the next lane , me with my 66 all in the 8-9 rings at 50 ' nuff said .

I like semi and I like wheel guns. I really am more accurate with my wheel guns. I pull the trigger and it goes bang most every time. No stovepipes or other semi problems. I love my two wheel guns!
As for those who poke fun....remember not to cast pearls before swine.

Saxon Pig.....:D Love it. 27s with full tilt 125s do get their attention. Usin a Nickle Barbeque gun adds a nice touch.

Had a similar experience at an indoor range. Let my brother-inlaw shoot my SP101 with 125 JHP loaded with Blue Dot. The sound and the flame caught a lot of attention. Had one guy come over and ask what the hell was that. He was a little suprised and somewhat miffed that it was a snubby that even offhand was more accurate than his uber-auto. His target had holes all over, no grouping whatsoever. There was nothing wrong with the uber-auto, the operator just needed more practice.

My wife is amazingly accurate with her FEG BHP clone. Never seen anyone sniff at her choice of weapon, especially after they have seen her shoot it. A lot of people brag about their choice in weapon and they claim theirs is the best in the world. But many times there is a big difference between bragging and performing. In the right hands the combination of weapon and operator can inspire awe whether it be the most expensive auto-loader or an inexpensive snubby revolver. In the final analysis its the performance of the shooter together with the gun that counts, not the design of the gun.

If all you folks will go back and read through these replys I think you'll see there is just as much if not more "snobbery" and "prejudice" from the revolver crowd toward autos as the other way around.

Wish shooting well was more important that what you shoot but this is the land of "keeping up with the Jones's" and "my dad can beat up your dad".

I really don't understand the difference between semis and wheels.
They both have their place.
I shoot both regularly.
I have autos from sig and h&k, DA revo's from DA smiths and DW's all the way to ruger fixed sight SA vaquero's and vaquero-bisleys' and a lot in between.
I wish I had enough time for all my "kids".
I don't.
Wheels and autos unite, for you have far more in common than you think.
Shooters that can shoot both well deserve the name.
Others, like me, keep practicing.

One good thing is that if you live long enough and the creek don't rise, you get over caring much about what people think. Just BS off a duck's back. It's kindofa Zen thing, LOL.
