Did you ever get BS from autoloading pistol owners for owning a revolver?

How many of you have ever taken BS from die hard autoloader owners about your revolver? What was said?

My very "tactical" friend always makes fun of my M66, calling it a sissy gun.
I usually outshoot him.

Hello. Yes, on occassion, but most of the guys I shoot with like revolvers too, so not much. Heck, I get more "grief" from a true Glocker concerning my "outdated" 1911s and P35s. He wants me to "get in the 21st century."

I just smile.

Best.

Comment from an auto shooter.

This fellow had seen me shoot a revolver on occasion. He shoots an auto of the IPSC many, many small round persuasion.

He remarked on my shooting style: "You don't miss. But you've got that 'revolver' mentality of making your shots count."

I agreed and thanked him politely. Then I asked if he made any conclusion to that line of reasoning. I could see him thinkinig. He was on the verge of an epiphany, but fell back on the herd instinct of the "twenty round burst".

Maybe when he's older.

LOL!
Nope. Usually they're too busy doing a tactical jam clear or some such nonsense to bother with the ole fat guy and the loud wheel gun. :D
(Gotta luv those short barrel magnums,,,they do drown out a lotta noise)

Yes.

I shoot one of my wheelguns, set it down, pick up one of my autoloaders and call myself a reactionary old fart who won't change with the times. Then I set down the self-shucker, pick up the wheelgun, and call myself a tactical wannabe for carrying a jammomatic.

Tamara, there are many new medications that can help you and your friend.

No grief here. Everyone I shoot with is a high level gun nut who has different types of guns. The only grief I get is for shooting while dressing like yuppie scum. I tell them it's urban camo.:D

What can you expect from bottom feeders ;) :D

But the fact remains that except from some material and manufacturing techniques, the revolver reached a pinnacle of perfection somewhere arount 1900. They are accurate, reliable, beatutiful and powerful.

The MODERN semi-automatic began around the same time that the revolver reached its peak. And today, except for the semi-automatic being able to hold more rounds, they still have no advantage. For a given caliber, a given barrel legth, the revolver still outshoots the semi in every category.

LOL, not sense son, at the invitation of a SWAT officer, was asked if he wanted to shoot a sillouette with him......troop asked if he wanted to uses his SIG.....kid said no and strapped on my 19 Smith and proceeded to chew the heart out of the target! Troop
stood erect ....holstered his .40 and never said another word.

No, not really.....

Most of my friends are divided into two neat categories: Those that love guns, ALL of 'em; and those that hate guns of any type. I don't have much use for snooty types that bash revolvers or semi-autos, or visa-versa. Man, I like'em ALL!

Don't call semi-auto owners botoom feeders too much.

We are "back feeders" or even "rear feeders" too.:D

Someone at the range with thousand dollars guns told me a single action revo is sooo long to load and unload.

Oh hell yeah.

Stupid stuff like "you'll be reloading while I'm still shooting." "If you run dry in a gun fight you're toast," all the standard crap.

Then I proceed to run rings around them on the firing line.

One guy who told me how bad it was for me to have a revolver, if I were in a gun fight with him (he had some ultra capacity gun, Paraord .40 cal, I think) he'd be able to keep shooting at me while I reloaded, yadda yadda yadda...

Little bit later we pulled our targets in. I was 12 shots inside of the 9 ring with a single flyer on a silhouette at 15 yards with my Model 19 2.5".

At the same distance, about 1/3rd of his shots were pure misses, and the rest were scattered around the target, with precious few actually having much "kill" value.

He didn't enjoy it much when I offhandedly mentioned that it looked like he NEEDED high capacity magazines, and lots of them.

Typical jackass with an expensive gun and lots of ammo. Obviously thought, and maybe still does, that making a lot of noise and spraying ammo down range equals stopping power.... So many of those people around these days...

Take a little, Give a LOT!

There is a lot of BS, concerning we folk's who like to shoot
revolver's. When I was a LEO, and qualifying with a six
shooter just for fun; one fellow LEO stated " What'ya
gonna do when she runs dry, throw it at 'em"? Little
did he know that I was about to win a case of beer,
based on one 100 yd shot from that ole' six-shooter.

But, when I converted over to Sig's; I like to polk fun
at the whole crowd myself, including a mixture of men
and women who shot six shooter's, and other brands
of semi's. The GLOCK'ster's really caught it!:D But, I
ended up owning three Glocks, of my own. :)

The BS was all in fun, No harm and No foul; just a
few bragg'in right's. (LOL):D

Best Wishes,

Sometimes yes but not often and never after shooting.
I have used dozens of different autoloaders.
Same with wheels.
I tend to keep wheels.
Both good tools for different chores.
Autos for offence
Wheels for defense
All for fun.

Well, I'll never be a Jerry Miculek or shoot half as well as 90% of the people on this board, but that is still sufficient to outclass most bozos ignorant enough to make comment.

Those bullseye types that do a single hole at 25 yards with autos couldn't care less.

The IPSC types who make comment get a reply about their needing exotic highly modified machines with heads up electronic displays, belt fed and gyro stabilized to get anywhere. This very modest ability shooter still does about 30% of their best performance using an out of box iron sight stock revolver and hours/years less practice and experience. And, of course, their machines don't do well as all-around firearms as I require of mine.

Recently I got the "girls' gun" comment from an LEO, but that came with a smile and my targets ended up being the best of the day.

You know, Guy, you make an EXCELLENT point, one that I didn't realize until just now...

"Those bullseye types that do a single hole at 25 yards with autos couldn't care less."

I've NEVER gotten crap from someone with an autoloader who is actually a good to excellent shot.

The comments have always come from autoloader fans who can't hit **** with them.

Interesting...

All the other gangbangers in my 9th grade class tease me, but not so much because I carry a revolver, but that I don't hold it sideways when I shoot....I just laugh to myself since most of the auto kids are C and D students anyway....
