CZ owners/experts - help me find my next pistol

Yes, but you can find the Mec Gar CZ 75 magazines (which are arguably of the same quality) for around $20-$25 online at certain vendors. There isn't a similar option for the P-07.

You can get three P-07 mags from CZ-USA for $109, which is less than the price differential from the P-01.

Yes I get your point on that end. At some point of magazine ownership though they'd break even in terms of the number of magazines bought because of that price differential and then it would become cheaper to own the P-01 as the additional magazines would be less. It comes down to how many magazines you want to own.

The Mec-Gar or CZ mags for the P-01 FUNCTON in the P-07, but they really don't fit right or look right. For range use, they're ok, and they may be alright for carry, but they are NARROWER, or were with the P-07 Duty. (I know that CZ has recently changed the P-07 mags, but I don't know if that means they changed JUST the mags, or whether they changed the gun as well. I don't understand them going to a lower capacity mag if dimensions stayed the same.)

I wouldn't go that P-01 mag route unless I had no other options. The Canik Stingray mags are an option, at least for the moment. (They also work in the Sphinx SDP, which are pricier mags, too. But you have to tweak the base plate a little.)

This got me thinking... would it be possible to design a plastic base plate adapter for the 16-rd 75 mags to fill in the gap at the base of the P-07, so that it both fits flush and stabilizes the magazine?

I don't see why not. You just have to find someone to do it.

The standard CZ mags are a good bit narrower than the P-07 mags, and I'm not sure how well they'd hold up (or stay in place) when carried or jostled a lot. They should be fine at the range.

I understand (already discussed) that the new P-07 mags are different, and perhaps they are more like the standard CZ mags. I don't always understand why CZ does some of the things they do. (I don't know of any alternatives for the P-09 mags -- wider and longer than any standard CZ mags.)

Because so many 9mm or .40 mags are so similar in size, you might find that some of the 2- or 3- extensions available for other mags could be tweaked to work with these mags.
