Cravin a Taurus View for Christmas

I like fruitcake too. When Xmas rolls around I get the little ones from the General Dollar.

As for the Taurus gun... not so much!!! I mean yeah, it's pretty nifty... but if it hurts so much to shoot, why bother? I don't like guns that hurt to shoot. Recoil is fine... I don't mind recoil... but when the recoil HURTS... 'taint na' fun says me.

I wouldn't even mind the recoil. Sometimes I actually enjoy shooting guns that let me know they are there. Heck, I even shoot a T/C Contender with a 10" 45-70 barrel.
What I don't like about the View is..........The view. I know what goes on inside a revolver action. I don't need to watch it happening. What do they do, include a mirror to strap on your wrist to watch the insides work while you shoot.
Got to be the dumbest thing yet in a revolver. Too bad, they ruined what could have been a really cool little pocket popper. :(:(:(

Keep in mind the innards are finished special. Also alloy frame and titanium barrel and cylinder... a kinda of unique pistol. I just ordered itfrom Buds only $480.

Update from buds. No pink guns. Darn I will have to settle for the silver one.

I'd be more than interested if it had adequate finish on the internals, and a titanium side plate!

How many people would buy one if S&W made it?

If it turns out as popular as the Judge they will.

I will let you know cheapshot. As it is not here yet how the internals look through the glass. Hoping. to get a pink one but a silver will do. Might even take a picture for you. I have quite a few snub revolvers. Again I am getting it because I want to and I can.
Lexan's common usages include space and sports helmets, clear high-performance windshields and aircraft canopies, and bullet-resistant windows.

Love and kisses to all..

I know I sure wouldn't. That's still a loaded question as there are many guns that Taurus builds that I hear people say "man if only xxxx would build that, I would buy it!" Many people don't trust Taurus. After being burned by them I certainly do not.

Somewhere I read, that the last Taurus president, Michael Kressler, carried a Taurus 85 that he had the factory in Miami modify with shortened barrel and grip-- kind of a prototype View.

Taurus tries all kinds of things. And drops a high percentage of those in short order (if they get made at all).

The Judge was a fluke -- the one out of fifty things tried, that actually sold well enough to continue. The Judge, for all that the cool tactical kids say it's worthless, is said to be quite fun to shoot.

The View can't even be that. I don't see it lasting in Taurus' line, much less being cloned by anyone else. ("The NEW Ruger Hen Party, based on the popular LCR line...")

I think people will buy it because it's cute and light-weight. Not to be judgmental, but my thought is that it will appeal to people with limited experience buying and shooting firearms.

It sounds like an interesting revolver and I would like to shoot one just to see how punishing the recoil is, but I can't see myself ever buying one.

I'll tell you what, I don't know that I would ever buy a judge/governor but I have had the chance to shoot both. They were a BLAST to shoot! I mean a real good time! If I were to buy one it would be the governor, because I like the moon clipped 45acp, and Taurus has burned me. Though I would consider buying a used Taurus from a trusted source. When you get a good one, you usually get a really good firearm. It's the times you don't that worry me.

I put my order in for a View yesterday from Buds. I paid by e-check so I am not charged a 3% CC fee. Buds price for me had dropped to only $457.00 shipped. Not the pink I wanted but silver will do. Probably be next week until they get it to my FFL.

I'd hate to dissuade you, peggysue. I see we are floating in a sea of hate here but I'm not sure how much of it is hyperbole. Taurus, Charter Arms, and a few other companies are considered "second tier". That is, their products just aren't as nice as most of the offerings from Smith & Wesson, Ruger, or other higher-end manufacturers. Does that mean they're crap? No. It just means they are a little less nice. They might not be as durable. The fit and finish might not be as good. You've got a slightly higher chance of getting a lemon but most gun companies have decent customer service these days. (Interestingly, I've only ever had out-of-the-box problems with Henry and Smith & Wesson!) Most of the time, they'll still be more accurate than we are and will work just fine. Some of my favorite guns have been cheap knock-arounds, especially since I'm less worried about dinging them up.

While the "view" is nifty, I know I wouldn't personally want to spend that much on one. If you want something that looks cute or spiffy, check out some of these offerings from Charter Arms. (Just click on one to see it.) My wife has had her eye on one of the "Santa Fe" models because it is actually blue, as opposed to what "blue" usually means for firearms. (It makes searching for this cosmetic feature on the web a real pain in neck.) However you go, it ought to be fun and a real conversation starter at the range.

EDIT: I missed that you already ordered. What I say still stands, and how many of us only have one gun? I know I'm always thinking about my holiday wish list! :)

As I said I buy what i want. I put my fun money into guns because it makes me happy. The View is a pretty inexpensive toy compared to my S&W Preformance Shop 327 snubby. I've got a couple Charters snubs too. One is pink...LOL Now Cosmo if you want to buy me another Charter for Christmas i will give you a hug.

More power to you. It is the only Taurus I would consider buying- I think it would make a nifty range toy. And that's what most of my guns are: things to have fun with, shooting them, yes, but also looking at them and fondling them.

I typically do too. Unlike some other things in life, guns are objects of inherent value. They are useful, durable if cared for, tend to retain value, can be passed down for several generations, can become scarce at the unconstitutional pen-stroke of a tyrant, and can actually save your life.

There are a few offerings from Taurus I'd love to own, but limited resources usually mean they get bumped for something I like better whenever the funds are available. I was really interested in their .410 revolvers and carbines until I discovered that they are all necessarily rifled due to some blatantly unconstitutional law. (If I want to shoot .45 Colt, I have far better options.) I was also interested in the .357 and .22 revolving carbines until I took a look at the forcing cones...

I have the Taurus 85, the Taurus poly .357 and the Rossi 92. All of them are fantastic shooting guns and I haven't had an issue with any. Why are they second tier, I have no clue.

Anyway, just wanted to chime in and say they had the view on the cover of a gun mag today. The review was pretty good, but then gun mags always are. My wife is def going to want one when she sees it, probably not in pink though. and I love the curved grip, are they the first to actually curve the steel?
