Cool handguns

To me, it's not "cool" until it's heavily modified to fit the needs of the user.

:)

Now, that doesn't mean it's ALWAYS cool in such event, God only knows :D.

But a really seriously tweaked-on gun to ME just reeks of personality.

But...y'all knew that already :D.

Smith&Wesson Model 29 .44 magnum as carried by both Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry and Robert De Niro in Taxi Driver.

Walther PPK as carried by Bond. James Bond.

Old Style 1911s as carried by those who fought in both World Wars.

Flare Guns. Excellent weapons for cheesy action scenes.

Pen Guns. Seriously.

"Pen Guns. Seriously."

The Chinese assassin in "US Marshals" used one against Wesley Snipes IIRC

I'd like to have an American Derringer chambered in .45 Auto Rim (one that got away).
A .44 Mag. Auto Mag would be fun (and cool).
The custom LAR Grizzly .45s used in The Shadow would be cool.

Guns aren't "cool".

They're for self-defense, killing dangerous or tasty animals, and keeping the king of England out of your face.

"Keeping the king of england out of your face" I'm tattooing that quote lol

I really like my 1911......but...Cool guns? I guess my Browning Hi-Power?

Seriously, what I would want...A Desert Eagle. Just for bragging rights and all the cool guys in movies have them. Carlos Olivera in Resident Evil dual wielded 2 jumping off a helicopter... :p

Yep, I do love the Buntline revolvers. My buddy has a very old Colt SAA .22 long barrel in near perfect condition, I'd love to find one like it.

That gun is a 9.5" .22 Single Six Convertible with the .22 WMR cylinder installed. The scope is a Weaver Classic 2X. I stripped the paint and polished the grip frame and ejector rod housing because it was getting a little chipped off from woods carry. Very effective on small game at 50 yards, and darn good at 100. I use it mostly for squirrels. The scope comes off and irons on for summer plinking.

Guns aren't "cool".

In like manner, cars aren't cool. As they're just for getting from point A to point B, or picking up groceries. And military jets aren't cool either... they're just for offense and defense.

Seriously, I think most folks on this board understand that by saying a particular gun is "cool", we're not equating that with saying, "Oh man, dude, that skateboard wipeout was so cool" or "I could wipe out tons of ninjas if I had that cool pistol."

So, yeah, I've got a got of cool handguns. Perhaps the coolest is my Lefaucheux pinfire revolver that my dad brought back from Europe after WWII. Never fired, but is it ever neat. As a kid, I couldn't even cycle it in double action as the trigger pull was so heavy. I should check it sometime. I bet it's around 10-15 pounds!!! Or maybe I was just a weak kid. :)

Guns arent just tools, there something to enjoy shooting, there recreational, and therefore can can be cool. I think personalized guns are cool, ones people have modified to fit their preferance, over a bone stock gun from the factory. I also think older military curio and relic guns are cool, like the mauser c96, steyr 1912, etc.

Respectfully, I must disagree

I agree with egor20. Some guns do possess the attribute of "cool". (It is 7 degrees Fahrenheit here today).

For example. Any gun that actually DID keep King George out of our (historical) face. Any gun that actually killed one's FIRST tasty animal.

Potential candidates for "cool" guns: Particularly beautiful guns. Phenomenonally accurate guns (especially at long range, like 1,000 meters/yards or more).

Utility does not preclude coolness.

But I do agree with your, Tamara, implied prejudice that "cool" does not confer "good", or even, "worthwhile". But I do believe that pretty much anything can have the attribute of "cool". Can you agree? Or at least see my point?
