Congresswoman McKinney Punches Capitol Cop

Maybe I can enlighten you, Rimrock. Many of GA's African-American "notables" don't care much for McKinney. Her offensiveness has nothing to do with her race, but with her racism, abrasiveness, ignorance and arrogance. She's provided aid to our foreign enemies. She's a dingbat. She'd be a dingbat if she were orange.

More enlightenment: GA's Statewide-elected Attorney General and Labor Commissioner are African-Americans. Ga's electorate is by far a white majority who, in their infinite wisdom, have repeatedly voted for African-Americans as statewide officeholders. GA's Statewide-elected Supreme Court Chief Justice is African-American, as is one of the Associate Justices.

Rodney King didn't get the hell beat out of him in GA. It happened in one of the more "enlightened" states, as did Howard Beach, the NY police shootings and abuse cases, etc., etc., ad infinitum.

Oh, while I'm at it, Cynthia's daddy, Billy, is equally turdacious.

The "honorable" rep McKinney???

In this time of war and security awareness the actions of McKinney are irresponsible...and stupid. The actions of an ego run wild, out of touch with the reality of homeland security....McKinney's actions are also illegal if she did indeed strike a LEO doing his job.....she should be charged and dismissed..I am being restrained in my condemnation of someone who has repeatedly been so stupid....ignorant sheeple constituents will mindlessly keep voting her into office..all for the promise of more grape "sodie pops", and moon pies.....COBRA..I'm being kind......

If she is charged with a violent crime, I would assume that she'd step down faster than DeLay did when indicted for his non-violent crime...

A misdemeanor battery at most. Hardly grounds for stepping down.

But since she is a liberal black woman you want to send her to jail for life, eh ?

If I were the cop I would be ashamed to have let her take a swat at me. He should have countered and cuffed-her. Pathetic.

Hardly grounds for stepping down.
She has nothing to step down from - even the members of Congress are not stupid enough to give her a position of authority within their august body.

That's my girl!!

When 50.1% of us elect this Thing...almost all of us are unrepresented.

Of course, I support my Senator without reservation. She is for the people.

Hi Rivers,
Thanks for the enlightenment! I've always thought highly of Georgia.
I wasn't suggesting the racial tension was Georgian but that it seemed to be present througout the posts.
I never really thought about comparing frequencies of racial autrocities between CA and Georgia. Perhaps an activitiy for another day! Should we handicap it? I want to be fair!
Actually it seems you've got a rep who by the posts here nobody likes. Sounds like she's soon to be a memory.
We know what that's like. We've got a governor who's claim to fame is marrying a Kennedy and bench pressin' her weight!
He's getting his bags packed as we type.
We've got a Pres who doesn't speak the language any better than the illegals he's protecting. He's the same guy that lied to a country and the world about the basis for pre-emption in Iraq which has resulted in so much loss of innocent life and jeopardized our safety!
I guess we should have these folks all submit to a comprehensive test before they are allowed to effect so many peoples lives.
I feel your pain, bro!

Rimrock: Yeah, I did get a little off-subject, but McKinney is a pet peeve of mine. I don't know her personally, but did have some dealings with her father many years ago. Cynthia was beaten by a better-educated and much more civilized liberal female African-American Democrat, Judge Denise Majette. For reasons unknown to me, Denise has kind of bounced around; left the Congress and is talking of running for GA Sec. of State. I don't agree with much of Majette's politics, as she's a liberal Democrat and I'm not; however, I do respect her a great deal.

To be honest, I didn't read the posts that probably caused you pause. I immediately went from McKinney to addressing your concerns, and, admittedly, I probably did go off on a tangent about regional biases, etc.

No sweat Rivers! I understand. Been known to be a little tangential myself from time to time.... especially on matters of passion.
Thanks for the backround on this. You do have me curious about McKinney enough to do so homework. Sounds like her style is less than charismatic.
There's sure no shortage of obnoxious politicians who think by their office it entitles them to a pass.
I don't know how many here have ever experienced to overwhelming rush that's produced by winning an election but it's hard to describe. It can be intoxicating and too often corrupting.

Nancy Pelosi was on the news saying how pathetic it is for the Republicans to be bringing this up.

I never knew that assaulting a police officer was a non-issue to the Democrats.

She's a dingbat.

This is the best description of McKinney I have seen on this thread. (dingbat is one of my favorite funny words :D )

I really don't see how anyone could review her transcripts and not come to the same conclusion. Watch C-Span Congressional hearings for committees she is on. Cynthia is the closest I have seen to Edith Bunker holding a seat in Congress.:)

Most mainstreamers, dems and reps won't see this as rising to the level of some of the real crimes politicians are committing daily to our collective detriment.

That's why you pick your fights and don't shotgun your punches!

I think this is just symptomatic of how divided this country is currently. It's more than guns or bad haircuts. The past 5 years have been about as divisive as any I can ever recall. I really believe a huge change is about to overcome this country. Politically most people aren't as passionate as some of us here. The mainstream has shown repeatedly they'll opt for something else whenever the pool gets suspiciously warm and yellow!
That's one more reason why it was critical for this Administration/Congress to have performed well. Frankly it failed miserably. Too many people have real misgivings about most of their leaders. Like a stressed faultline a quake is inevitable now!
I'll be shocked if it doesn't happen.

If she was a white male republican and had said some of the things she's said and done some of the things she's done, there'd still be a furor.

+1.

If she had an (R) after her name the propaganda organ of the Democratic party - AKA "the news media" - would crucify her. No doubt she would be forced out of office.

Don't look now, but someone's double standard is showing...:barf:

So, by your own admission, you know nothing about her, yet have posted five times in this thread alone, including not only ad hominem drive by's on another member, but a general sliming of the membership of this board?

Class act. :barf:

"Most mainstreamers, dems and reps won't see this as rising to the level of some of the real crimes politicians are committing daily to our collective detriment."

So that means that it should immediately be forgiven and forgotten?

Enlighten us...

Which crimes are "real crimes" and which crimes are, I guess for the lack of a better term "unreal crimes?"

Let me give you an example of the kind of Democratic hypocrisy I'm talking about.

Remember Trent Lott? Former Senate leader? He made the mistake of praising reformed Dixiecrat Strom Thurmond's political career at Thurmond's birthday party.

For that, Lott was very publically branded a racist and was hounded out of his leadership role.

Compare that to Robert Byrd...

Looks like Mr James got a nerve pinched! MEDIC!..... NURSE!... Dr Freud!
Most folks posting in this thread seemed to have local knowledge not afforded those of us from other parts of the country.
Until Rivers and others brought me up to speed I couldn't figure out all the negativity. The terms which were used here weren't mine, Mr James. Can I call you Jimmy?
I've leaned some things here by asking questions. Isn't that the object?
Now why don't you take a seat in " Dr. Darwin's Waiting Room" ... he should be right with you!:)

"Which crimes are "real crimes" and which crimes are, I guess for the lack of a better term "unreal crimes?""

Real Crimes...Anything the Republicans do...until a Dem gets caught doing it

Unreal crimes- illegal immigration

Video been posted yet? I'd like to see it to see how bad it is. If it's as described, I would guess she'll get "simpe assault" if anything. But I'd still like to see it.
