Congresswoman McKinney Punches Police Officer...

Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) punched a U.S. Capitol Police officer today after he mistakenly pursued her for failing to pass through a metal detector. The entire incident is on tape. The cop is pressing charges and the USCP are waiting until Congress adjourns to arrest her, a source claims... Developing...

If she is charged with a violent crime, I would assume that she'd step down faster than DeLay did when indicted for his non-violent crime...

/not holding my breath

I wouldn't hold my breath on that one either. Don't those peons know royalty when they see it. How dare they treat her like everyone else.

McKinney is a W.O.F.T. - Waste of F***** Time. She is a loud mouth racist who doesn't know when to be quiet. The fact she keeps getting elected shows how a majority of stupid people live in Dekalb county. Somebody should punch her in the mouth!
Interesting that she had the 4th district redrawn so she could be re-elected last time around!

AFAIK, the Dems have no rules about stepping down if indicted. But it will be interesting to see what results from this. I hope someone has a link to the video

Quite true. She is an embarrassing disgrace, and always has been one. But then again, she actually does represent the views of her constituency fairly well -- there's some really stupid and strange ones over there in that part of DeKalb Co, that's why I try to avoid going over there to that side of town if I can at all help it.

And I'm not at all surprised that she has done something like this. It would have been her or her virtual congressional twin from Houston -- Shiela Jackson-Lee (also Democrat). Back when I lived in Houston, I had the pleasurable enjoyment of being able to vote against her every election...

Can you feel the love here?:D That handle isn't significant is it!
What is it about her and even Shirley Jackson that disgusts certain folks here? I can understand if it's a gun thing but it sounds like it's something else maybe. Is it that she's a politician...a black...a woman...a dem or all of the above? I think someone wants to say it...but just can't quite find the cagingas! Is she tweakin' the election process or carving out districts like ..who's that disgraced bug sprayer from Texas or is it Tejas?
I'd really like to know?

My handle relates to my car. I drive a White Bill Blass edition Lincoln, hense Whitebb. Left over from a lincoln site. Maybe I SHOULD CHANGE IT!

Here's a short summary I googled up. Note the second sentence "Democrats began distancing themselves from McKinney." And this was in 2002. It's not just Republicans and evil racists who think she's goofy. John

"It was all downhill from there. On April 12, 2002, a synopsis of the interview appeared in the Washington Post. Democrats began distancing themselves from McKinney. She released a statement admitting she was "not aware of any evidence" proving "President Bush or members of his administration have personally profited from the attacks of 9/11," but "a complete investigation might reveal that to be the case." Then again, it might not. For that matter, McKinney might have had no idea what she was talking about.

Appearing in print just months after the September 11 attacks, McKinney's charges couldn't be excused. Nor could her list of campaign donors, which included both terrorist sympathizers like Abdurahman Alamoudi, the former executive director of the American Muslim Council, and apparent actual terrorists like former college professor Sami Al-Arian. Nor could her October 12, 2001, letter to Saudi prince Alwaleed bin Talal, in which she rebuked New York mayor Rudy Giuliani for returning the prince's post-9/11 "gift" of $10 million and urged bin Talal to donate the funds to "charities outside the mayor's control," especially those that dealt with "poor blacks who sleep on the street in the shadows of our nation's Capitol." Giuliani had returned the Saudi's money because it came with the implicit condition that America "address some of the issues that led to such a criminal [9/11] attack," among them "its policies in the Middle East," where "our Palestinian brethren continue to be slaughtered at the hands of Israelis while the world turns the other cheek." To Giuliani, such a statement made excuses for terrorism. This wasn't a problem for McKinney."

Rimrock,

If she was a white male republican and had said some of the things she's said and done some of the things she's done, there'd still be a furor.

She's repeated multiple times about Bush "needlessly murdering innocents" by not *warning* them about 9/11. Huh?

but I'll let someone else speak for me. http://www.slate.com/?id=2064530

I was considering moving to Atlanta a few years ago right in the thick of her idiocy, which is why I'm involved.

Actually, it just shows how the district lines have been drawn in a big squiggle to specifically include as many stupid people as possible.

It's not that she's racist, per se, although she really hates Jews and blames us for the loss of her seat in 2002, it's more that she has a big chip on her shoulder regarding race, and sees everything and everyone around her in terms of her projection of their racism. It's no accident that Louis "The white man is our mortal enemy" Farrakhan campaigned for her.

She's probably clinically paranoid, and has a serious martyr complex. She thinks everyone around her is secretly racist and dislikes her just because she's black, instead of realizing that they don't like her because she's a b---h on wheels.

It's not the first time McKinney's mouth has gotten her in trouble. In her 10 years in Congress, hardly a year has gone by when she didn't make news for an outlandish accusation or a wild conspiracy theory (ideally, as in this case, a combination of both). During a nasty 1996 congressional campaign with racial tension on both sides, she called supporters of her Republican opponent "holdovers from the Civil War days" and "a ragtag group of neo-Confederates." Never mind that her opponent was Jewish. And during the 2000 presidential campaign, she wrote that "Gore's Negro tolerance level has never been too high. I've never known him to have more than one black person around him at any given time." Never mind that Gore's campaign manager was black. (McKinney is not a particularly partisan finger-pointer—there are enough delusions for both sides.)

whitebb - No reason to change your handle that I can see. Perhaps Rimrock should just read what is written instead of reading into what is written. Methinks some projection may be the case here...

If a white male Republican had done the same thing, the media furor would be ten-fold what it is. The media will give her a pass because she is a black female Democrat. Racist? Sexist? Partisan? You betcha! But that's our media. :(

It's likely that the USCP will give her a pass for the same reasons. PATH said it best: "Nothing will come of this. The law does not equally apply..."

Thankfully, Rep. McKinney did not emphasize race and/or the race of the police officer when she explained what happened:

The statement's writer says that she has been harassed by white police officers she says do not recognize her due to her recently changed hairstyle.

"Do I have to contact the police every time I change my hairstyle? How do we account for the fact that when I wore my braids every day for 11 years, I still faced this problem, primarily from certain white police officers," the statement says.

"I was rushing to my meeting when a white police officer yelled to me."

Additionally, Rep. McKinney's altruistic side was demonstrated after the incident occurred:

I offered also to counsel with the offending police officer.

Luckily for the "offending" "white" police officer, Rep. McKinney was willing to "counsel" him after she assaulted him.

She needs to serve some serious time. What a loser, ignorant moron that the ghetto morons from georgia elected. I'm embarrassed she is from GA. Ugh. :barf:

Charged with assault on an officer. That's what should happen (if there is a distinction in that jurisdiction between assault and assault on an officer). Probably not going to happen because I'm sure the only thing she would say is "it's because I'm black" and then we'd be having riots all over, I'm sure.:barf:

The whole incident is purportedly on tape. The USCP would probably not have outright said they'd wait till session end to arrest her if it wasn't open and shut.

I'm learning plenty here. Lots of racial tension it seems.
WOW! What is a getto moron? That's certainly not a LEO term is it?
Please enlighten me before they put this thread out of it's misery!
