Confidence in your Carry Piece

The question was posted about what situation could exist where the .380 is not enough gun?

Easy: around here, gang members tend to travel in packs. So now you face 3 (or more) ex-con bikers, all buffed out from their last stretch in the pen. Average weight 260#, average height 6'.

Still feeling confident in your .380?

I would not feel confident with my 7.62 rifle!

The gun is just a tool. confidence comes from your mechanical ability. Sure it'd be nice to have a Snap-on truck full of tools avaliable, but thats not always practical.

Total confidence in:

A) Glock 27 with Winchester 155gr T series
B) Glock 26 with Winchester 127gr +p+ T series
C) Glock 23 with Winchester 155gr T series
D) Glock 32 with CCI 125gr Gold Dot .357 Sigs.
E) Glock 17 with Winchester 127gr +p+ T series
F) Ruger Speed Six with Buffalo Bore 158gr LSWHP or Cor-Bon 158gr LSWHP
G) Ruger Gp100 3 inch with same as Speed Six loads
H) S&W 640/60/ with Cor-Bon 158gr LSWHP
I) S&W 64 2 inch with Cor-Bon 158gr LSWHP
J) Taurus TCP with WW 95 gr flatpoint FMJ
K) P32 Kel-Tec with WW 71 gr FMJ

Yea I have alot of fully capable carry guns! But as you can guess J and K are NOT primary carry guns!

Wow!! Way to try to start an argument. I see a lot of people who mis spell words on here. Simple mistake. And yes I can put 2 rounds through the sam hole at 25 yards with my mak. I tend to shoot about 100 to 150 rounds a week with it. 25 yards isn't that far. It would be in a fast pace event like a fight. Point is most guns will be able to stop a bad guy if you do your job. And u most practice with what you are going to carry. Have you ever shot a makarov?

I agree with Jim. Your firearm should be the last resort for deff. As he said you need confidence that you will be able to perform any any situation.. I am a 5th degree black belt and have been training for mor then 25 years. Unless the bad guy has a gun I know my training will get me to safety. And hif he does have a gun I know my mak will perform if I should happen to need to draw and use it. Building confidence takes practice in all of lifes events. No one I know was totaly confident with driveing until the practiced. Same goes with shooting and the gun u deside to carry.

I've had a Rem 700 in .308 with a heavy barrel on a benchrest with sandbags and a scope and just barely been able to get my shotholes to touch each other at 100yds.

I’ve shot a lot of Makarovs. Never saw one that would put 5 shots into a 3” group at 25 yds, much less shoot one-hole groups. That is unless you only fired one shot. ;)

You claim you can fire 2 rounds through the same hole at 25 yds with a Makarov. Well, so can I if the hole is 4” in diameter.

Tell you what; shoot 2 rounds at a target at 25 yds and post a picture. Don’t forget to Photoshop the powder burns off the target paper.

Wow u all are way off the original posted question. And now it seems you are trying to bash me, the problem with this is that I don't care what others think about what I can or can't do. The point of my statement was to let the OP know that. YOU HAVE TO PRACTICE
to build confidence with what you carry.

And let's all face the fact that if someone can't shoot a good group at any reasonble yardage they won't be confident that when the bad guys come they will be able to hit the mark.

Just trying to follow you, buddy.

Right. Now let’s see your “one hole” groups.

Actually I wouldn't doubt that the Makarov can be shot accurately at 25 yards, and can be shot with confidence. Fixed barrel helps alot. My CZ 82 was VERY accurate.

Sure, but you still didn't answer how fast and if you could do that with someone shooting/attacking you

Why does that even matter?!?!?!? Isn't it better to not find out? For anyone? God willing he can, and he will if he and his family is under attack. If he FEELS confident leave him alone about it. Really don't get why that matters...If he says he can, would that help anyone sleep better at night? You, do you. I'll do me. lol especially about this topic brother. We're all here for the same reason.

here you go. 25 yards 5 shots..Makarovs can do it.

That's not the same thing as, "I can put two rounds in the same whole at 25 yards".

Looks like about a 3-4" group, which is what you'd expect from a Makarov, slow fire on a good day.

Why does that even matter?!?!?!?
It 'matters' because:

Shooting slow fire at a stationary target is worlds away from what will happen at in-your-face-distance on a dark, rainy, cold night facing a living, moving person.
We're all here for the same reason.
Are we really?
