She's pro gun, and lets face it: Hillary Clinton(Anti gun, anti american) will probably be the democratic nominee--I think Condi could beat her, and I think she would be a good President--what do you all think?

I want Reagan back. Even his cold dead body would be better than what we have now and what I can see on the horizon.

Rice might be a very shrewd selection by the GOP. Aside from having a following of her own politically, offering a female minority candidate to face off with Hillary may well steal some thunder from female and minority voters that would otherwise vote Democrat. Certainly some crusty old men will bellow and cry, but they're still Republicans and will vote for a black woman over a Democrat woman.

Re Condi Rice for President, aside from the question of would she make a good president, which has not been answered, perhaps not seriously looked at either, I'm not saying that she would not, and the reason for some offering her up for that office is obvious. I submit that rightly or wrongly, the election, to hell with election, the nomination of a BLACK WOMAN FOR PRESIDENT is not something I expect to see within my lifetime.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the rights and or the wrongs of such action, I simply do not believe it is something that willl happen in this country, at least not anytime soon.

Rice would never be elected POTUS, despite the (R) in front of her name.

Many conservative voters, especially in the Deep South, would never vote for her, because she's both black and a woman. No prospective President can win an election without the Southern vote.

Marko,

It doesn't matter. The worst that would happen is a third party candidate, like Perot, getting that portion of the Southern vote. So it would just be like the '92 election.

It's not like Hillary is going to get those votes, instead.

Mr. Kloos... I'd vote for her in a minute! My daughter even used Dr. Rice as her topic for "black history month" whatever. I am impressed with the lady.

BTW...check your map...Georgia is quite blue, as is most of the south.

He's saying they stop being Blue when the candidate isn't properly "qualified" by Southern standards of race and gender.

I'm saying it wouldn't matter because the other candidate would be considered equally vile.

Okay, how about:

Adherence to this, and other forum rules, will allow you to stay here and continue to make responses to my posts.

I wasn't talking about you Handy. I was responding to the original poster. The big circle is the world. The little tiny speck inside the circle, that's you. :p

It doesn't really matter who it was aimed at, does it?

Whatever else he's posted, this question is interesting and surprisingly overdue on the polictical board.

The average white conservative southerner has a lot more in common with the little Black woman from Alabama than you'd ever imagine.

Expression

Probably be my last post as I'm sure that Johny Guest will also sensor this one

It was locked down because Mr. Johny Guest said I was trolling. How is asking a legit question trolling? I guess only parts of the Constitution are acknowledged here. I'm sure that Ill be kicked off soon because my opinions may differ from others, so just make sure you agree with everyone and go with the flow.

1+2=3=tossed out on your @$$
It doesn't seem like anyone is trying to censor, just asking you to tone down a bit. Also, bringing up topics that have been beaten like the proverbial dead horse doesn't help. (the AR and .45 ACP threads are more then dead, their skeletal :D ) Most of the info you seek is available in the archives, if not, ask a bit more specific question so that new info can come out.

No one wants you to leave, or even to kick you off, just bleed off the throttle a tad.
By the way, welcome. :)

Back to the thread. As attractive as she is as a potential candidate, she has never made it to elective office. Big big big difference between being elected to be an executive and being appointed to be an executive.

Let her serve as governor of, oh say California, then come back and talk presidency.

Race and gender are minor issues.

After many years of politics watching I have little faith in electing someone who is working for us, most are bought and paid for by rich corporate
American, any laws passed is to benefit the wealthy and we are here
only to pay taxes to provide benefits. Pessimistic, yep, how can a true
leader for "all" the people now be elected in America.?

I like Condi Rice but her battle to the White House would be huge. I think with a lot of work, backing and luck she could do it. Back in 1980 an American Olympic Hockey team beat the USSR. At that time the Russian's couldn't be beat. In fact just a few weeks before the real Olympic game the two played and the Russian's kicked the US Team's rear. I always light up when someone or some group say something can't or won't take place. At this point I love those (can't happen) words. It makes victory that much more sweet. My little sports history isn't the Executive Office but in my mind it's not all that different. As of now, I see no reason why I wouldn't vote for the hard-working lady. Why should it matter if she is in her 50's and never had a husband. Why is it such issue if her skin is darker than mine? Those that have these hang-ups need to step into 2005. The world has and continues to change with us. To fight it will get you what? No place.....

Go - Condi :D

Marko, with all due respect, I think you are ill informed about the American South. I believe you are drawing from stereotypes to reinforce negative opinions that are projected by a liberal media. Look at the number of female and/or black governors, senators and representatives in the South compared to the rest of the country before making such a statement. The only legitimate basis of comparison is who has voted X number of minorities into office in the past, not stereotypes.

Saying that the Deep South would not allow a woman or a black person to be President is quite insulting. We are not all ignorant and barefooted with cornflakes stuck in our beards.
