Colt Signature Series Parts

Not really, Their is a license agreement from the 1850's(which is neither here nor there), they were made on original Colt equipment, parts and screws interchange with originals. That's closer to a real Colt than the second gens.

The Belgians made the 1851 .36 brevettes (among others), but not the 1860 .44s, so how do you tie the 1860s in with the Colt license? Don't get me wrong - I think Belgian guns are great (I have several), but I do not see the connection with the 1960 Centennials.
Is there any documentation that the 1960s were made on the 1860 machinery?

I think the license extended to the 60 but i might be wrong, wouldn't be the first time and I hope it's not the last.

No I just assumed and we all know what that means.

Like I said, I like Belgian guns. The ones I own are well made antiques and have stood up very well over time. I just don't consider the 1960 .44s to be 2nd generation or reissues. If they were made on 1860 equipment, sure...but they weren't. I know that my Colt 3rd Generation guns were mostly made in Italy but that's OK, too ($300 for a "letter"? No thanks). The Italians do very well with sportscars, other firearms, women, etc.
If you think about it, in an evolutionary sense, a true 1st Generation would be a Paterson, and the Walker would be 2nd Generation and so on.

That's true. I meant that even if they were "authentic" Colts, it just doesn't interest me. I have an 1851 .36 made in 1862 that could get a "letter", but I could buy a nice repro or a bunch of ammo and powder for $300. A few years ago I passed on a Belgian 1860 .44 for $275 and I'm still kicking myself (I had no idea what they were at the time).

As far as I know the Colt licence for the maufacture of Brevete types never has expired so though they never made the army originaly it still would be a under licence to Colt. I would be pretty displeased with my self over missing one for $275 also as they just never seem to show up for sale much at all.

Colt is stamped on the gun. Why the fuss? Let it be the last of the breed. Obviously many collectors still want them. Why doesn't Colt sue them for counterfeiting!? They are mentioned in the Colt revolver handbook. They say Uberti made them? Of coruse---- most of you have decided they are not colts. Um---

Go to the source

Guys, there are answers to all these questions and they are NOT in Adler's book. Go to the source of Adler's information. The only book needed for
2nd & 3rd Generation Colts is Dennis Russell's book, "Percussion Colt Revolvers, The Second Generation Collector's Handbook & Price Guide #6"

Also, to spice up this conversation, lets not forget the parts that Armi San Marco also provided for the 2nd Generation Colts!!!!
