Have also had runaround with colt, my brother had bought series 80, plasitc main spring housing was cracked and one other problem, called colt and they said they would not send replacement part had to send in whole gun, and requested older steel housing and again they said no, told them forget it, went to Terry Tussey Custom, in Santa Ana CA, and replaced most of the parts with ED BROWN, have some series 70 pistols and everyhting works fine, if you want the best buy Les Baer frame and slide and have gun built.
