Church Carry

I was thinking about this when I sat down at church today. Maybe I would carry but it'd have to be very well concealed.

People at church don't notice any more than people on the street. If you conceal it on the street you'll be just as concealed at church.

A friend of mine was up making announcements one Sunday and he was wearing a rather large 357mag in a shoulder holster under a suit jacket.
When he hopped down off the stage his jacket blew open and the gun was plain to see for anyone watching.
There were no gasps or startled screams or laughter or anything else. No one commented to him later except one guy who also carries and that was just to pick on him. No one went to the pastor or deacons with concerns.
The only additional concern at church is hugging. If you keep your arms properly positioned, that's not a problem either.

I do conceal at church,and i don't hug while using a shoulder holstered Glock 22 and 2 x mags,no if's and's or but's.

No hugs,just slugs for thugs.:D

I'm pretty sure my holster and maybe the whole gun has been visible a few times when I've been up on a ladder fixing something, or changing a lightbulb, or digging something out of the bottom back cabinet, or whatever. Not as obvious as the example above, but nobody notices or they don't care.

Many CCW in South Florida

At the congregation I attend in the Fort Lauderdale area, there are a good group of us who all have CCW. The funny thing is that the majority of the people who carry in church here are women. They have it in their purses, and one even carries in her diaper bag. The preacher also has a snub noised 38 in his office safe.

The building is in a not so great neighborhood and there have been security problems at some of the other local churches nearby. The most recent was a guy who took some people hostage in a Lutheran church about two blocks away (he was the son of a member and had been having mental issues). Some think this was actually a suicide by cop ploy (it worked).

When I carry, I'm IWB with a Destanis Insider with my S&W Bodyguard 380. I will either put an extra mag in my coat pocket, or if I'm without the coat (usually with a sweater) in the pocket of my wife's purse.

We did have one issue where a group of men came in and started to cause some issues (they were looking for a guy who formerly was a member of our congregation). Fortunately, they backed down and left before we had to call the cops, so it didn't escalate. But they didn't notice that they were surrounded by all of the ccw members (or maybe they did and that's why they decided to leave).

but what if it's NOT His will that you die there? What if it's His will that YOU respond and save countless INNOCENT lives?
I'm a "born again" Christian, too, and desire God's will in my life, but I'm going to do everything I can to stay alive all the way up to whether it requires that I jump in front of a bus or sacrifice myself for my wife and daughters.
Thankfully, there is a definite "gray area" in the latest senate bill passed by my state that TECHNICALLY allows carry in church with permission from the "management or supervision."
