I voted .45 Colt, I love that cartridge and if I could find a reasonably priced 4" S&W model 25 locally I'd jump on if and carry it all the time. The concept of a .45ACP revolver is completely lost on me, I figure if I'm going to shoot .45ACP the it ought to be out of a 1911, .45 Colt is for revolvers.

The .45 ACP revolver works fine for those of us heavily invested in .45 ACP pistols instead of the .45 Colt. Sure, I could use the .45 Colt, but that means adding the logistics of supporting yet one more caliber (loading dies, cases, etc.)

I had an S&W M25-2 in .45acp that was cut down to 2 1/2". It was a neat revolver, but IMHO, it had no real advantages over several .45acp semi auto pistols that I own, so I sold it.

There is one "advantage" the short barrled .45 revolver has over an auto.
I think some people call it "Command Presence" :D

I said other cause I'm an average sized dude- 5' 10" 200lbs, so concealing just about any large frame revolver will have me dressing like I'm trying to hide something. Medium or small frame snubs work best for my frame. You big guys can conceal a Marlin Guide Gun, so I can appreciate your choices.

For me this is where the fun is, the more the merrier. I won't be satisfied until I have one of everything I think. I load for both cartridges, so this isn't an issue for me, I can appreciate the point though. To my mind though my Kimber Pro CDP II is a better option than a .45 ACP revolver just due to the speed of reloads for me. The Kimber's thinner too so it'd be more comfortable to carry and conceal. If I'm going to a revolver I want the option of heavier bullets, I've shot 250 and 300 gr. XTPs from my 25-5 and they both shoot well although in all honesty I haven't found a bullet yet that shoots poorly from the 8 3/8" barrel. I wonder how the heavier bullets would perform from a shorter barrel.

For you double or single action .45 ACP revolver guys, don't over-look a 1911 magazine for your reloads, very comfortable and portable. :)

In my 610, though, moon clips in the gun and on the belt.

S&W N-frame 22-4 (similar to Indiana Jones carry), conceals just fine in a shoulder holster. Balanced, light, very accurate, with 1 or 2 moon clips. Plus 1 or 2 New York reloads.

Check your 6.

stu925 - Unless you have a very early Model 25 with a loose throat, it's hard to find a .452" bullet that doesn't shoot well. As long as the loads are consistent, they seem to group well. The Double-Tap 255gr LSWC are nearly match accurate out of my stock 6½" Model 25. From the snubby, I'm finding that a 200 grain JHP seems to work best.

As far as reloading goes, with the full moon clips it's just as fast as a magazine reload. As Jerry Miculek has shown, reloading with moon clips doesn't take very long. Someone claimed it took him a full second and others have "timed" him at .88 seconds. (Yeah, me neither :p).

The only serious advantage the semi has over the revolver is being flat and thin for easier carry. Unless you carry a full sized double-stack .45 with 12 or more rounds, the capacity and reload speeds arguments get even thinner for 95% of civilian uses.

KRP - the magazine-for-wheelgun-reloads trick only works once, on your first reload. When you reload a 2nd time, some of those cases can stick in the chambers because they're rimless. You best have a handy stick or pen to poke out any stubborn empties. I'll stick to moon and half-moon clips.

I voted other. In my opinion, 44 special is the 45acp of the revolver world. Additionally, unless I could find titanium moon clips or something of that nature, I would always worry about them bending. All just my personal opinions, and take them with a grain of salt from someone who does not admittedly own either type of revolver but is a 45acp fan and carries an automatic version every day.

Weird thing is I tend to prefer revolvers so you would think I would be more open to the idea. I think for me it is the weight/size of the carry guns chambered in 45 that turns me off in the end though.

My CC is actually a .44Spec Bulldog (4 rounds, 1 empty) and no 'extras'.
Why on earth would you carry a CA Bulldog with only 4rds? It is perfectly safe to carry fully loaded, no need for the hammer to rest on an empty chamber.

I have a few big bore wheel guns suitable for concealed carry and they all get used from time to time. Something about those big holes makes them look mighty intimidating from the business end.

If full-moon clips are problematic, why not use half-moon clips? They seemed to work well through two world wars.....

I voted for .45Colt.....revolvers need rimmed rounds....and .45Colt hits harder than any ACP round.....

None of the above.

I would carry the extra ammo in a semi-auto magazine and thumb them into the chambers for a reload. Probably would use an XD45 magazine.

Taurus 450T 45C

I passed on one not quite a year ago ....Stupid...I like to have one ,or trade for one .....But the way Big Bore snubbies are selling I'd say Taurus will bring it back.... especially the way Judges a and Governors are selling ..renewed interest in the 45 Colt
That one reason I purchased a Judge PD UL

im pretty sure you could get a 45LC cut for moon clips. I love moonclips. I use them with my S&W 627 in 357 magnum
