CCW license response time

About 15 minutes here in SW PA. I walked into the sheriff's office with forms in hand, printed from the net and filled out ahead of time, but they obviously are available there on the spot. Just a quick background check and printing later, I strolled out with my brand new LTCF card.

Too bad its not so easy everywhere!

Here in MS the law states that the permit must be issued, or a letter explaining why it was denied, within 45 days of the filing. Mine was issued on the forty-fifth day, and I got it in the mail two days later. The process was easy; fill out the paperwork, get it notarized, turn it in, pay the $132, get printed, go home. No class, no hassle, just time.

1st time - 4 months
1st renewal - 5 months (though they said renewals were taking less time:rolleyes:)
2nd renewal - 2 months

Keep in mind, this is the absolute worst county of Michigan

Appears to be getting better, but I hope to be out of this county next time anyway!

@MississippiDave

The limit is 45 days now. The law has been changed. The version that you linked is old. The permit unit hasn't updated their text, but according to the law that I got when i filed and also the FAQ on that site, its 45 days.

Here in Savannah, Ga. I waited 53 days for mine. My next door neighbor waited 49 days for his. It really varies wildly here in Georgia. I see reports of 3 days in some counties to 4 months in other counties. It is all politics and who is in charge of the system.

My daughter got hers in 7 calendar days just last month. When I got mine I waited the full 90 days. We are both in Florida.

The difference in the times is due to our licensing agency opening branch offices recently. Mine went by snail mail to Tallahassee. Hers was processed electronically locally, and that included photo and fingerprinting.

dnr1128,

I see where they updated in the FAQ section. I wish they would update the entire site. Yes, it has been a while since I got mine. I stand corrected. Thanks for the information.

Got my Texas renewal in about 45 days ... they had a terrible backlog after the last "Presidential" election, but I think they're back to close to what the law mandates ...
