In Colorado it depends on the county, they handle the process. Most of the front range countys will take close to the 90 days allowed by state law. In rural areas it is generally faster. The exception is El Paso county (Colorado Springs) where the sheriff actually thinks armed lawful citizens are a good thing and they turn thme around in a few weeks.
I live in Jefferson County CO, a front range county, and I just renewed my CCW. It took them only a bit over 3 weeks to process it; from mid May to early June.
Mine took 59 days here in Texas last fall. Seems like processing times have gotten shorter lately, from what I see on the Texas CHL forum some folks are only waiting about a month. DPS here made some changes to their process around the beginning of the year and it helped I guess.
Issuance (may or shall) depends on State Law. In Arkansas, the law appears to state
"(2) Within one hundred twenty (120) days after the date of receipt of the
items listed in § 5-73-311(a), the director shall:
(A) Issue the license; or
(B) Deny the application based solely on the ground that the applicant
fails to qualify under the criteria listed in this subchapter."
So, it appears it may take up to 120 days in Arkansas.
About a month in Rhode Island, but it is very difficult to get. You can try to get one through any town in the state but most towns refuse to issue even though they are obliged by state law to do so in a "shall" manner. I'd say 95+% of permits come through the state attorney general but they are a "may" issue and illegally restrict most permits, if they give them out at all. So basically, it takes a month to find out you were denied.
One week. I live in Coffee County, Alabama. In this State, it varies so much by county it's ridiculous. But I've not heard of it taking anyone longer than a week to get theirs in this State. Unless they were denied for some reason.
I took my chl test & shooting in late Febuary & received my license in March [ last week of March ]
I'm in Houston , when we were in class , the instructor told us the average time was 3-5 weeks if no problems.
~2 weeks in SD. I got a temporary permit that served for the entire 2 week period of the background check. I was legal the minute I walked out of the Sheriff's office.
