CCW choices....357Mag. or 45acp?

Concealed hammer revolver - will operate better in close quarters or a "get off me" situation. No slide to cycle or get pushed out of battery, no hammer to hang up. If you can pull the trigger it will go bang until empty.

There is of course the issue or non issue for some, of defending your choice in court after a shooting. Like it or not a single action cocked and locked is harder (not impossible) to defend then any revolver. Thats life.

Which one do you shoot the best?
That should the determining factor.

Mike Irwin,
Good point! That's how I made the determination on my Smith & Wesson M&P and whether to purchase 9mm or 45acp. :)

I may go to the same gun shop with the indoor range and shoot several CCW type pistols and see which one fits me the best.

I have the RIA 45 compact. It is utterly reliable. shoots anything I put through it. I paid $424 out the door after taxes. I also have the 5 inch Tactical

357... but why 357? .......

.....reliable, simple, reliable, small, reliable, powerfull, reliable, concealable, reliable, amazingly accurate for size, reliable, durable, reliable, lightest power to weight ratio, reliable, but........ I have to repeat what others have said, What do you shoot best? , What are you most confident with?

I have one of each. A Taurus 651 (357 5-shot shrowded hammer) and a Glock 36 (45acp 6+1).

I use both for carry, but find I can shoot the 45 better. Also, I find the 357's to be so loud while shooting normally, I'd hate to find out what my ears felt like if I ever had to use it w/o protection on. Because of this, I carry my 45 the majority of the time.

If i can get my hands on one of the 327's, it would likely become my new carry gun. I just prefer a wheelgun for carry, so long as I can shoot it well.

Ultimately, pick which appeals to you the most, or whichever you are better with.

humm

I think 45acp provide more stopping power and you don't have to worry that the bullet will travel a long way and hurt some random bystanders.

.357 have great penetration capability with lessen recoil.

I go with 45ACP

I have two .357s, but I wouldn't the 686+ (weighs a ton) or the Taurus 617 (not crazy about the holster I got for it). I do carry my Kimber UCII and love it, totally reliable at the range and carries 7+1 ...

...

I'd use 45ACP for HD in a heart bit b/c I won't have to worried about the bullet go through to wall and hit someone else. And one is enough to stop BD from messing with me.

Nevertheless, based on what I've read/seen, I will pick a 357 anyday for daily ccw for its greater penetration ability!:D

Find yourself a good S&W model 13 or 65 3in. . To me it is just about the perfect choise for a SD revolver. Longer sighting radius and more weight than a J frame for better controlability and 1 more round.
