No.Bart you seem to think I'm going to become a master rifle builder palma and f class shooter
I think you want to shoot as well as them. I used them as a comparison, not a specific discipline objective. Do you know what the average first shot miss distance is from point of aim at 1000 yards these days with hand-held, super-accurate rifles from the best long range competitors even on known ranges with zero's established the day before?
You might want to check the ballistics way down range at 1700 meters to see what the following things do to change your bullet's chances of hitting the point of aim on a moving target:
* drift in inches per mph of wind considering the cross wind speed varies with height above the line of sight depending on terrain. At 40 feed above it, it can be over 50% faster. And wind's not the same speed throughout the bullet's trajectory. How do you measure crosswind speeds at all range points to the target?
* bullet drop for every 10 yards of range; how much will you miss point of aim with a 20 yard error in range estimation?
It doesn't take a thick billfold to pay for a rifle that'll shoot under 6 or 7 inches all day long at 1000 yards with new cases handloaded with the same component set that's done that for decades, but most people think it does. A cheap, used Win 70 action, good barrel well chambered and fit to it, conventionally epoxy bedded with Devcon in a cheap wood stock with a $400 scope in cheap Weaver rings will do that well easily without any load workup at all. I've had that done several times. Others have done it for decades.
