Quote RE: Jimmy Carter:
"I said he is a good man, with a good heart."
Well, Neville Chamberlain may have had a good heart, but his weak knees managed to help contribute to a great deal to the death and suffering carried out by Hitler, during the second world war.
Jimmy Carters weakness and lack of resolve during the hostage crisis in Iran, was the worst thing to happen to the United States foriegn policy-wise, in the entire history of the country. We still pay for it to this day in terms of lives.
Just having the ability (due to taxpayer funded retirement of over $ 200 K per year for life) to go out and spend time tinkering on houses for the poor, does not make up for the damage resulting from his four pitiful years of disasterous foriegn policy.
To add insult to injury, he seems to spend a great deal more time meeting with every Communist Dictator imaginable, trying to help spread animosity and hatred for American citizens, than he spends tinkering on houses.
A good man with a great heart? I'd guess Benadict Arnold may have helped out at a few barn raising back in the late 1700's, but taken in total, I don't think hammering nails at a barn raising gives someone license to betray their country, and help ause the deaths and torture of innocent people.
Since the time Carter left office, all I have ever heard him do is criticize other Americans. But dictators such as Castro or Noriega, (having long been known for murdering their citizens) for the, he can find only praise. In fact, I cannot recall a single enemy of the United States, that Carter hasn't said something politically in support of.
