Carry Preferences

DW 1911 CCO or Kahr CW380.

I carry because i can and like my SAK knife and light, i might need it.

I like to carry holster guns to keep pockets free.

I'm retired and living a low key, very low risk lifestyle in an affluent area. I don't expect that I will ever need to pull a gun in self defense, but I do travel a lot and these days, the strangest, most unexpected things can happen anywhere and I just like to be well prepared.

The last couple of years I've carried the M&P40 more than any of my other pistols.

I carry a gun in case I might actually HAVE to use it, so I much prefer to carry larger guns rather than small ones. I like the controllability, higher capacity, and bump in power that can be had with a larger pistol.

Talon Rubberized Grip wrap adds better traction and a tiny bit of welcome cushion.

This pistol feels great in the hand, shoots forty making it feel more like nine, has 16 round capacity, is reliable and accurate. It has become THE pistol I would want in my hand if I needed a pistol for self defense. I prefer 40 because it has significantly greater capacity than .45 and packs a bit more punch than 9mm - and I shoot it very well with this pistol.

Just for interest sake, I decided to check out the Sig P320. It has gotten a lot of interest lately and is selling very well. I bought two, and liked them so much that I just bought a third. P320 Full 40, P320 Carry 40, and P320 Compact 9.

These guns are just getting entered into my carry gun rotation where they will definitely give my M&P40 a run for it's money.

Easily concealed with shorts and Duluth t-shirt, which is almost all I wear most of the year around.

Talon Rubberized Grip wrap on this one, as well.

I carry my Glock 26 but this coming fall and winter I might try to carry my Sig Sauer sp2022. Currently looking into a new carry pistol like the FNS 9c, Kel Tec Pf 9, Ruger LC9 and maybe khar cm9. I'm looking for a pocket carry for the most part, but I found a great deal on that FNS9c

Full sized 1911, all stainless, in 9mm is my primary ( because its the platform and the gun I shoot the best )....mine is a Wilson Combat 5" Protector model, all stainless...

My main EDC is a SIG P250SC in 9mm, but I do carry P250C, 2022 or my old Glock 19 every once in while. Have been thinking lately about carrying the 2022 more this winter.

Generally a Glock 26 or Glock 19 depending on dress.

In the winter I'll sometimes go with a 1911 or .45 Glock (30S or 21, depending on dress).

Love my G17 gen 4 and AIWB Carry !

Since it has past 350 trouble free rounds my 9 mil Shield has become my go to carry. I carry it inside the waist in a DeSantis leather holster. Carry for the protection of my family.

I carry a HK45C, or the HK VP9. Having been in private business for many years and carrying large amounts of cash made it necessary. It is a right in my home state to apply for and obtain a CPL. I choose to exercise my right. From the time I start my day to the time the lights go out.

I'm am wondering everyone's personal preferences for carry and maybe if it pertains, your reasons for such carry.

My personal preference is firearms, but I also carry knives. I carry them so I can stop people from trying to harm me or others.

The survey makes little sense to me, and the OP question is ultra vague. The op question appears to have nothing at all to do with 'what weapon do you prefer to carry', which most everone appears to have responded to. I infer the question has more of 'why do you choose to carry', which I think agrees more with the spirit of the survey questions.

What's the thrust of this thread?

Oh gee...I'm holding my breath on this one.

Warm weather Shield 9mm, IWB; cool/cold weather a SA XDm 45c, OWB. Why? Cover fire to get myself and/or loved ones out of hostile situation. Sadly, random violence is becoming less random and more widespread in our community....inner city and burbs.

FWIW, younger daughter now legally carries. That's about a 120 degree change in viewpoint over five years or so.

HK P7 or Walther P99 AS in IWB holster. I favor the Alienware 3.0 Cloak Tuck.

The P7 is a bit too valuable for that kind of duty these days, so it's more likely to be the P99.

When I want to carry something smaller than my M&P40 or P320 40, the M&P40C is my pistol of choice. 10+1=11 rounds of 180 gr HST in a compact, very soft-shooting, comfortable and easy to shoot package.

I much prefer the M&P40C to the M&P Shield, due to higher capacity of course, but also because the double stack M&P40C benefits from the somewhat wider grip in terms of spreading out recoil all through the palm of the hand, rather than into your hand through a skinny, narrow back strap. The M&P40C fills the hand beautifully and makes the pistol very easy to control and shoot well. It's a pleasure to CCW, because it is relatively light weight, but not too light, quite compact and very easily disappears under any untucked shirt with an IWB holster.

Kahr CM-40 in a DeSantis pocket holster in both front pants pocket and extended mag in back pocket. Colder months wearing a jacket I'll also carry an M&P40c.

Just filled out the survey, but it didn't fit me well at all. I carry (as primary) either a S&W69 .44mag, or a Kimber Eclipse Custom II 1911 10mm. I want a a very powerful handgun, and the .44mag is as good as you can get in that category, in a full-time EDC gun. The 10mm isn't as powerful as the .44mag, but it's MUCH more powerful than any other semi-auto round that would work as an full-time EDC for me. There are other 10mm semi-autos, but the features of the 1911 (and especially the Kimber 1911) trump all others for me.

[Addendum]: I forgot to mention that, like a couple of other responders to this thread, I conceal-carry from pajamas-off until pajamas-on, every day. I carry in a homemade under-the-shirt vertical shoulder holster ... very comfortable, convenient, and well-concealed. I also carry a S&W360sc .357 ultralight snubby, in my right front pocket, as a BUG.
