I'm retired and living a low key, very low risk lifestyle in an affluent area. I don't expect that I will ever need to pull a gun in self defense, but I do travel a lot and these days, the strangest, most unexpected things can happen anywhere and I just like to be well prepared.
The last couple of years I've carried the M&P40 more than any of my other pistols.
I carry a gun in case I might actually HAVE to use it, so I much prefer to carry larger guns rather than small ones. I like the controllability, higher capacity, and bump in power that can be had with a larger pistol.
Talon Rubberized Grip wrap adds better traction and a tiny bit of welcome cushion.
This pistol feels great in the hand, shoots forty making it feel more like nine, has 16 round capacity, is reliable and accurate. It has become THE pistol I would want in my hand if I needed a pistol for self defense. I prefer 40 because it has significantly greater capacity than .45 and packs a bit more punch than 9mm - and I shoot it very well with this pistol.
Just for interest sake, I decided to check out the Sig P320. It has gotten a lot of interest lately and is selling very well. I bought two, and liked them so much that I just bought a third. P320 Full 40, P320 Carry 40, and P320 Compact 9.
These guns are just getting entered into my carry gun rotation where they will definitely give my M&P40 a run for it's money.
Easily concealed with shorts and Duluth t-shirt, which is almost all I wear most of the year around.
Talon Rubberized Grip wrap on this one, as well.
