Carry Preferences

I'm am wondering everyone's personal preferences for carry and maybe if it pertains, your reasons for such carry. Like career reasons or just to exercise the 2nd amendment right.

If you guys wouldn't mind, I also have a school related survey I have made reviewing the same question. I will leave the link below and compile results later today.

Thanks guys!

I carry a CZ P-07. It fills my requirements. Reliable. Adequate parts availability. Accurate. Small enough to conceal without issue and large enough to run comfortably at the range.

But the gun doesn't matter that much to me. It could be a Glock 19 or a P229 for all I care. Those both would work as well.

My most commonly carried pistol is a Glock 26, but I also have a Sig P238 for pocket carry for times when concealment of the G26 is more difficult.

I carry for personal protection, and the protection of family and employees. There is a perception among some that veterinarians are an easy source of drugs or drug money. Many of us come to our offices at odd hours, sometimes at the behest of people we don't know. I have also been threatened after delivering bad news.

I carry an Springfield Armory XDM 3.8 Compact. It is a concealable double-stack 9mm. 13+1 for capacity, great track record for reliability, and a lot of fun to practice with at the range...

Images make forums more interesting :)

I carry because I want to protect my family. This choice was not an easy one, because taking a life should NOT be an easy choice. Choosing to carry, is choosing to being willing to take a life. Its a personal choice that you need to make before carrying a weapon.

As others have said, I carry for protecting self and family; a decision, as rpseraph said, not to be taken lightly. And I'm profoundly grateful that our Founding Fathers realized, as evidenced in the wording of the Second Amendment to the Bill of Rights, that the choice of the People to "carry" for self-protection (or to overthrow a government turned tyrannical, for that matter) is not merely a privilege, but their God-given right.

I have a few that I CCW but mostly my Walther PPS due to it being a great shooter, totally reliable, and so easy to comfortably conceal.

I CCW to protect myself and family. It is like an insurance policy. I never expect to have to need to use it, like my home owners insurance, but I want to be prepared just in case.

For most of the year, in town, I carry a S&W Shield 9mm, primarily for self-defense. I do a lot of camping, fishing and hunting as well, and for those activities, depending on where I'm going I'll also carry either a Ruger GP-100 .357 magnum or a S&W Model 69 .44 magnum.

Thanks guys. It looks like there are more options that what I am used to. I will for sure check out the XD series in the future. Right now my range collection consists of a 1911, Ruger SR22, my Glock 19 (newly acquired), and my next addition is going to be a Beretta 92. I love the weight and all around smoothness of the action when it comes to the Beretta. I have also been itching to try the Sig family of arms. Not to mention I live a little more than an hours from three of their plants...... ;-)

TailGator, thats rough sir. Working in an ER, I experience roughness everyday with people that probably aren't the most adequate for the world, but you wouldn't expect that coming from a veterinarians office. I know people including myself give part of their soul for man best friend but still. Interesting for sure. Stay safe man.

My primary CCW right now is my PF9. I'm working now with my XDS 4.0 45acp. I want to put more rounds through it before I can put it in my rotation. I don't think it will completely replace my PF9 though. It's been a great gun with no issues at all. It's not much to look at but it works.

Depends on what I'm doing. For CC on my person, it's usually my HK P-30 V3 9mm and every now and then my Walther PPQ M1 9mm. I prefer the DA/SA action for this type of carry. For carry while driving where it's not on my person, it could be the above two plus my Sig P226, Sphinx SDP, and Steyr L9-A1. I'll also use any of these for open carry while out in the woods.

I carry a springfield XD-s.

I carry this gun because I don't special order clothing and so it is difficult to get oversized clothing in my area that isn't designed for morbidly obese people so I have limited carry options that don't print through my generally well fitted clothing.

I choose to carry because I believe in 2 things and I know one more thing that relates to them. I believe that I have a right to defend my life with any means necessary. I also believe that if I have the ability and opportunity to save another person's life I have an obligation to do so. I also know that the police in my area have a tendency of showing up to a 911 call about 20 minutes or more from the time of the call, even with situations that literally take place across the street from the police station.

now don't get me wrong, I understand that my concealed carry permit, neither gives me the same authority and duty as a badge, nor the right to go out looking for trouble. however if I am in a college classroom and I hear gunfire in the hallway, I am sure as hell going to tell my classmates and professors to get behind me and stay there until shooting stops.

My daily carry is a Taurus PT111 G2. I sometimes carry my CZ P-07, but the Taurus just caries easier, so it usually gets the nod.

I started carrying when I opened my own business - a food truck. I often end up running shifts at night near bars. I just didn't like the idea of being an unarmed target with a cash box. I feel like I am responsible not just for my own safety, but that of anyone else who is working on my truck - most often my nephew, and sometimes my wife.

Even though it started as just carrying on the food truck, it has become part of my everyday life. I put it on when I get up, I take it off at bedtime.

My carry options include a Glock 22 (Usually Winter or in backwoods), Walther P99 and a Springfield XDS. I'm a firm believer in our second amendment rights and choose to carry for personal/family protection in a changing society. I feel that when citizens are legally allowed to carry then crime rates are reduced.

Could not have stated this better myself, my PPS is the "M2" version, I had it at the range yesterday, this gun shoots quite a bit bigger than it is, it tears up targets with very cheap Fed Champion Aluminum case ammo, I highly recommend this one:D

My EDC gun is also my nightstand HD gun. It's a Kimber Stainless Pro Carry .45ACP. I shoot it and clean it regularly. I change the recoil and firing pin springs on a schedule and the gun has never failed me. I am extremely pleased to state that I have never taken it out of its holster for a firefight. Wish I could say that about my other guns but that was during war time (Vietnam).

I might add that if I am in an area of sand, water, dirt, extreme rain, snow, or other adverse conditions, I switch to a HK .45Compact. Fortunately for me, I very rarely go to those parts of the world with those conditions with any frequency.
