Candidate Obama

Except there isn't really much to talk about there, either. There's just nothing to the guy.

Hear, hear! That seems to be the recipe for political candidates these days; all style, zero substance.

You want candidates with substance? Candidates with proven leadership and credentials? That'd be Wes Clark (D) vs. Ron Paul (R). Of course, neither will make it past the primaries. We'll be picking between Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Clinton.

Maybe they (Ron and Wes) could run independent together? I'd vote for that.

We'll be picking between Rudy Giuliani

Dunno, but it seems to me that an uncorruptable former Federal prosecutor who administered one of the largest cities in the world back to health has shown both leadership and credentials.

Cant always agree with his politics, but Rudy is probably the one with the best credentials right now.

THIS RUDY????

New York City Sues Gun Industry
By Mayor Rudy Giuliani

"On June 20th, I was pleased to announce that the City of New York filed a lawsuit against two dozen major gun manufacturers and distributors. This is an industry which profits from the suffering of innocent people. The lawsuit is intended to end the free pass that the gun industry has enjoyed for a very long time, which has resulted in too many avoidable deaths."

"More than 30,000 Americans each year - including 4,200 children - die because of gun violence. In addition, the city has found evidence of advertisements by gun manufacturers that claim their guns don't show fingerprints. This feature serves no purpose unless the user is intending to use the weapon for illegal purposes."

"It is our hope that this suit will result in substantial financial awards to the City for the many ways in which illegal practices and illegal guns harm New Yorkers; including the $17 million dollars each year that are spent by the City's Health and Hospitals Corporation treating gun-shot wounds."

One of the major goals of the suit was to push for "safer" guns, with such features as trigger locks and "personalization" measures that allow only authorized persons to fire the weapon, such as the internal lock on S&W products.

You may consider this as showing leadership, I do not!

That ain't sayin' much.

There are currently plenty of candidates that I would vote against, but I have yet to find one whom I would vote for.

I think Ron Paul comes close for me. Not quite, but close.

Hey, leadership isn't always a good thing.

Guess you are right. Sen. Schumer probably thinks that Rudy is a fine leader. Ones outlook depends on whose ox is being gored, I suppose.

FWIW, I don't see much "leadership" in Giuliani. I saw plenty of posing in front of cameras during a national tragedy, but not much leadership.
Qualifications? He ran a city? A big one.

So did Ray Nagin. What's your point?

Yep, he did. Have you? :)

That comparison is so silly as to beggar description.

Some of you guys aint getting what ya want in a candidate. Deal with it. Do something then instead of bitchin here.

Me, in any race with Guliani vs XXX, Im voting for Rudy as is every other repub up here...and hes gettin a letter saying "I voted for you this time so dont **** us"

A city larger than many states (most states?), population and economy-wise.

When Rudy left his city wasn't a burnt-out shell of the city he took over? I'm just guessing. ;)

A lot of New Yorkers seem to think Guiliani did a decent job running things. Sure, a lot of others don't, especially ones for whom he stepped all over one of their pet issues (such as gun control). This will be true of any politician who has ever run anything anywhere, especially as head of an executive.

Rudy's just as qualified as, say, an ex-governor of Massachusetts, an ex-Senator from Tennessee (and actor on popular TV show), or a Representative from Texas with a failed Presidential campaign under his belt.

You can dislike the guy, you can dislike his policies...but he's about as qualified as anybody.

Whether he's "as qualified" or not is immaterial. It simply means all we have available, so far, are incompetent and corrupt leftist hacks with no clue, or no concern, about the Constitution and BoR. Laughable that in this nation these are the "best" that we have? Or simply the ones who kissed the most ass and betrayed the most confidences to get there? The latter is pretty obviously the correct answer.

Glad you put in that "leftist" thing. I thought you were talking about W!

/wish I were joking
//"constitution is just a piece of paper"

I'm more qualified than any of them.

Credentials please.

Rudy has shown a very high quality of leadership, what he did with NY was impressive, which is more than the competition can truely say. He hasn't earned my vote yet though.

I could never vote for him because of his anti gun stance. And he just seems way too liberal.
I don't think he has a snowballs chance anyhow.
