Can I ship a handgun in-state to another person??

You definitely need to check with the FFL in question before you agree to something like that. I recall reading about a fairly large mess that involved a situation like you describe.

I would think it would a lot cheaper for the seller to go through an FFL dealer.
He's only charging $30 to ship. It's going to cost him at least twice that much to overnight it where as a dealer could ship it Priority for like $20.

Many FFLs charge over $50 on each end. There is no FFL on the planet that is going to ship to an individual. You guys must be lucking out to find FFLs that will take care of the whole thing for $20. My guy charges $25 for the transfer, not including expenses and is by far the cheapest in town.

Talk to your FFL, most charge a token fee that barely covers time spent and he won't do anything to get you or him in trouble. If they did it for free they wouldn't have time for anything else, right? Mine told me the best way to ship a rifle back to the mfg and even gave me a good used box to put the factory shipping box into. Support your local FFL unless you like the idea of buying all your guns, ammo and other supplies from big box stores and outdoor chains.

Mine is $15 for a transfer (receiving end) and $20 plus USPS priority flat rate box (about $35 total typically) which is far less than the average $60 for me to send it overnight via someone else (sending end).

Hardly any in this area that are over $25 for transfers.

Likely not if its a Federal system, you can likely find a private delivery company that would do it for you but it will be costly and may not be as safe.

I charge $10 plus actual cost of shipping & insurance. For a $1,000 handgun it comes out to about $30-35 including transfer fee.

As dealers are allowed to mail handguns it saves my customers $25-60 on that one shipment alone.

For those who do not know. FFL dealers can mail handguns only to other FFL , they can not return a repair handgun direct to a non FFL via Post Office.
