Bush OK's 700 Mile Fence?

There are third-world nations with better border fencing than our nation; the idea of a border fence made sense in 1776; it makes more sense now. I say begin fence on southern border and continue with northern border later. HomeLand Defense means just that. Send half/bill to Mexico and Canada if need be. Most law specifically states that neighbors shall share fence construction costs. What we should be doing is enforcing the law on books... illegal immigration is a crime. Perhaps a few gun turrets at sourthern border would get the message across.

I have said this before... the border issue and the immigration issue will only be FIXED after a senator's daughter or a congressman's son is assaulted or harmed by an illegal alien and at the rate it is going that is not far off..
 
Very insightful and thoughtful bob. I've never understood people who are of the position that anything less then complete progress is failure. A fence, whether its the whole border or not, is helpful.
 
You can debate the fence all you want, but it is not funded. Wait until they start construction on the fence, then you should have these debates. IMO, it will never get built.

Darn did not know we had Tony Snow on this board.:D While I voted for this
administration it has done very little to secure our borders in fact with speeches such as "we need these people for work Americans won't or don't want to do" along with comprehensive package with the hope of citizenship has encourage thousands more to cross. Too little too late.
