Bush OK's 700 Mile Fence?

A big ceremony as Bush signed a bill to build a 700 mile fence on the border. Only problem is the border is 3,000 miles long! Thats like fencing 2 sides of your yard, then wondering how the dog got out. Bill T.

Part of me want's to say that it's a start. The other part wants to say that it is just to gain support in the election. FYI it was a Democrat (not surprisingly) that first started bringing Mexicans to the US during WWII

+1 Bill

They don't even have to build a fence, they can put up some cameras and lights and call it good.

Tried that too and the dog still kept leaving the yard...............but I had good video of him running away:D

I'll go with it's a start, but still 3000ish miles short, many hours of manpower, and several elections from being complete.

"Another problem is that the fence has no funding."

Just divert however many MILLIONS we funnel into that worthless UN every month, and use it. If Kofi and his useless bunch whines, give 'em a post hole digger and a bus ticket to El Paso. Bill T.

This fence is such a bad/stupid idea IMHO only lol It IMMEDIATELY reminds me of the Berlin wall. People say its too keep people out not in. O yeah the Soviets said the same thing to themselves I'm sure. I dont understand the mentaliy of this. The problem is a social/economic (huge problem btw) one. The US is not some big prison or totalitarian government and we should not be acting like it. Besides I thought I'd start some flames here. :p

Its a start but leaves a lot to be desired. What would be better is to enforce the laws against hiring illegal immigrants. Dipping into the pocketbooks of those who hire them with some back taxes, fines and penalties and jail time on top.

It is a start... prior presidents did nothing for border security and Bush has tried to get the ball rolling... yet he gets condemned for each step! Yes the border is 3,000 miles long and yes we will need more fencing... you and I best demand that each president following Bush finish the job!

Want to add to the mission of the Fence? Don't support or patronize any company that hires illegals. Do that and the fence effort will begin to work. Support the Minutemen and the fence will work. When you see a Border Patrolman thank him or her for their work and the fence will work. We can all add to the fence and await its completion.

I agree - you've got to start somewhere and this might be it. Folks moan about the easy access to our country, and Bush and Co. finally do something and folks complain "it's not long enough", "it's not tall enough", etc. Give the guy a break.

Some of the 3,000 miles is brutal desert wasteland, so it wouldn't make sense to rush to build million-dollar-a-mile fencing out there when you've got people strolling across and getting picked up on nearby freeways.

All smoke and mirrors. Eye wash. Three-card Globalists Monte. A bone thrown to the repugnican base. More Kool-Aid for the Bushbots. Grease on the squeaky wheel. Reluctantly signed by ol' El Diablo Presidente:barf: while the party chicken-winged his arm behind his back in an effort to harvest votes before the election.

In reality it'll be a cold day in the Underworld before construction or staffing of a security fence ever comences because doing anything more sets back progress toward the real goal of a North American union.

Fatherland Reichsmin........er Homeland Security puke Chertoff:barf: is already tap dancing with an idea to grab part of the budget to set up "test" sites to study the feasibility of a fence. This is for public consumtion only and will proceed no further than more "tests".

We already have a steel shortage and you want to put up a huge steel fence ?? ..Anytime you see a project being started just before elections you should be very suspecious !!!

700 miles is 700 miles more than every other president combined put up. We have to start somewhere. But hey, even if it does not go up it got mexico riled up, so the entertainment value is there.

The irony

Is that a lot of very bad illegals and terrorists are already here. Pull up www.worldnetdaily.com. Neighbors complained about a animal being mistreated, when police arrived, they caught a illegal sexually abusing a puppy. That kind of scum has got to removed from this country and now. They want our papers? Let's check their papers immediately! Over one million sex crimes have been committed by these people. He was obliviously doing a job no American wants. :barf:

We have to start somewhere

Why can't we start by enforcing the laws that already exist?
I am not very learned about this subject. I only know what I have hear on TV/Radio and read in the papers (which isn't much) - So, I am not arguing that my answer is better than anyone elses... It just seems that if we enforced the laws at the level of the businesses that are hiring illegals, the jobs would dry up and the illegals would go home.

I am sure there would be a cost... What would it cost (literally and other) to do that?

We will see just exactly what gets built. A physical fence will impede flow. A virtual fence will allow us to see the flow. . . . .just like a predator drone will do which has been used in the recent past but for some reason fallen out of failure. I wonder if its photos put the lie to official govt figures.
