Bush - "I've met my border promise"

So what about national leadership on this issue? Bush has done more than any other president about the immigration issue but he still has not done enough...
Valid observation which must be qualified with one insignificant, little understood factoid. THE UNITED STATES IN THE MIDDLE OF A FREAKIN' WAR. We are fighting an enemy that can not possibly go nose to nose with us on the battlefield so it fights be targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure. The situation is sufficiently dangerous for the government led by Bush to attack two foreign countries, resulting in the deaths of our own troops, and spending untold hundreds of billions of dollars. We know our enemy intends to bring their form of war to our soil. We think it necessary to implement questionable laws effectively limiting heretofore civil liberties. We've created gigantic federal bureaucracies, we implemented outrageous inconveniences depending upon our mode of transportation. We know the routes by which those who would kill us will enter the US. We have hard intelligence what they are doing and how they are doing it.

Yet the president expects us to just assume we will have no problem with terrorists et al coming over the border to enter the US. We are to assume there is no danger of an open border. We are to assume our enemies are too stupid and unsophisticated to blend into the human flood crossing our border. We are to assume our enemies are too stupid to make league with capitalists who already routinely infiltrate our borders. We are to assume our enemies are too stupid to smuggle in WMD's through the same channels they smuggle drugs, weapons, and humans. We are to assume the most corrupt government in the western hemisphere (Mexico) will restrain itself and offer no sanctuary, aide, or assistance to our enemies.

The president's failure to do anything meaningful about our southern border points out serious problems with our government at all levels in all locations. Since we're talking about about the president I limit my comments to him. I want to rationally explain why he is not acting the way he is not acting. Best I can do is come up with two bookends of motives. One bookend is there really is no threat from Islamofascist terrormongers and this whole 911 thingy was merely theatre. Or the president is engaging in treasonous activity for which he should be impeached, removed from office, and finally held up to the ridicule he so richly deserves. In either case the president's policy toward illegal immigration is flat out dangerous to my life, my liberty, and my property and on that basis I want the man out of office.

Gee, I didn't realize Bush was responsible for all the illegal immigration.
What was happening during Clinton or Bush 1, or Ford, or Reagan, or Carter, or Nixon, or Johnson or , or, or. Same thing that is going on now was going on then except it's been increasing dramatically. Which is depending on who you talk to a pestilence or a boon to the economy. I for one see far more downside than up.

Personally I want it stopped.

If all the illegals suddenly rose up,banded together and made a stand,we would be outnumbered.
11 million illegals in a nation of 300 million?

It is a common fact that you won't get unemployment, food stamps or free medical care if you're a white person.
Please, if this is a fact, then provide some proof. I know plenty of white people who have gotten all three. I collected unemployment this year, and I'm ghostly white.

They can get drivers licenses and can't read or understand half of the driving laws.
That's an accurate description of most drivers of all nationalities in America.

They make wages here and send them to another country so they're not putting anything back into our economy.
They pay for food, clothes and shelter.

They're turning nice neighborhoods into ghettos.
And in some cases, they're improving the neighborhoods they move into.
Look at job postings in the papers, you have to be bi-lingual to qualify for some jobs. Why?
Why is there such an aversion to learning a second language? I've worked for several international corporations, learning to communicate with our overseas offices made me a more valuable employee.

Why should I have to press 1 for english?
Because you be REALLY pissed if you had to press 2 for English ;)

I'm not picking on you Doubletaptap, but you post sums up the attitudes of so many here.

Is illegal immigration a problem?
Yes, but not even close to being the national emergency that it's being made out to be. Sorry, but conservatives are so quick to point out how others are unwilling to accept personal responsibility, but what I hear on some of these comments reeks of "I'm a victim".

Instead of blaming the nation's ills on illegal immigration, ask yourself what have you personally have done to make the country better.

People are so worried that they may have to press one for English, gays might marry, and that praying in school is more important than learning, that they have failed to notice how many nations have surpassed us in technological prowess.

The country is going down the tubes, but illegal immigration doesn't have much to do with that.

but I challenge you to find a president in the last 40 years who has done more* to enhance southern border security...

While at the same time encouraged crossings in every speech by stating
we need people who will do jobs americans won't do along with the idea
of a work permit or Amensty. No, this has been a very poor administration
in terms of border security in my opinion and I've lived on the front lines.

REM: First off, Clinton, Bush Uno, Ford, et al, are not declaring the follwoing statement "...I kept my promise to secure the border" after doing the following":

1. Making an unconstitutional and illegal treaty agreement with Canada and Mexico, in August of 2005, called the "North American Partnership" without a single vote in the U.S. Senate (much less a majority approval as required by Article II) to allow for "trilateral law enforcment to protect Judges and Officers" of this new "Partnership", which calls for Mexican trucks to be outfited with a microchip styled and touted as a "Trusted Traveler Smart Pass" allowing that truck to enter the United States, unimpeded, and additionally, uninspected by U.S. Customs or Border Patrol, and travel up his Unconstitutional land grab scheme called the "Trans Texas Corridor" all the way to the new Mexican Government "Smart Port" in Kansas City Missouri, thus exposing me, my family and my fellow Texans to:

a. Any number of additional illegal aliens who wish to pay a coyote to bribe a Mexican Truck Driver to cart over all kinds of illegals, since the truck is a "Trusted Traveller" truck, with a microchip, which WILL NOT BE inspected until the truck reaches Kansas City, where it will be inspected by MEXICAN agents, since the "Smart Port" will be "Mexican Soil" in the same manner as an embassy.

b. probable terrorist attacks, due to the ability of our enemies to hijack the truck and use it to transport whatever they want into Texas.

c. Imminent Domain being granted to a foreign entity (Contractor for the TTC is owned by the King of Spain) in order to allow for the taking of over 50 million acres of private property to build this Trans Texas Corridor, which is the gateway to the Super Corridor, which will complete the highway to Canada, to help move material up and down the "North American Partnership" or "Union" which will allow for "trilateral law enforcement" and "cross border responders" for "emergencies or threats to the North American Continent".

Those type of things bug me to no end.

Cameras at Texas-Mexico border go online

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1731671/posts

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- If you're on the computer and have time on your hands, Texas officials say you could do them a favor. They'd like you to check out a site with live images of the Mexican border, and report any signs of illegal aliens or drug crimes.

You'll have to sign up for a user account at Texas Border Watch-dot-com. Once you do, you can take a look at the views from eight cameras. If anything doesn't look right, you can e-mail authorities.

Texas homeland security officials expect to eventually have at least 70 cameras up, some of them with zoom lenses.

Some civil rights groups are complaining, but Governor Rick Perry says the "virtual border watch" program is needed to cut down on illegal activity.

The Rick Perry/ George Bush approach to border security....Voyeurvision....

When does the "Senioritas Gone Wild" camera come on?

Puuuulllleeeeezzzz!

I called ICE about two months ago to report and complain about the conglomeration of illegals in downtown. Gave em my phone number, name, address, cell number, email, and all I got was a ration of crap from a lady who wanted to know "What made me suspect they were illegal aliens?" When I tried to explain to her that only a moron couldn't peg a crowd of illegal aliens at a day labor site, she went into a cultural awareness/tolerance training speech. I'm still waiting to hear back, and the same guys were there this morning.

What was funny, is Rick Perry was down Highway 290 a little ways down and across the road about five hundred yards west at a gathering for his campaign, giving his stump speech about how good a job he was doing, and how tough he is getting on those old illegal aliens.

In the meantime, I was covered up on our main street (in the old town) with illegals standing all around my truck and trailer looking it over and looking through my stuff, and trying to figure out why I was interfering in their "day labor" spot. (I was trying to set up my wife's booth for her Market Days thing in town)

You have to try and keep one eye on merchandise while still trying to set up, with about eighty or ninety illegals wandering all over looking though the everything, and standing on top of you. (I have to go lock everything, try to set up a little portion, then go back to the truck, unlock, etc.)

One of the ladies that sponsors the market days has an antique store about a hundred feet down from where I was, and although I didn't see it personally, she told me later that day, she had pulled in her parking lot, and saw one of these illegals with his pants down, defecating in some bushes beside her store. She seemed a little hacked at that. (In fact she was the one that asked if I would call ICE, because she said ICE told her she could only call and complain once per month)

Anyway, Rick Perry and his crowd are about five hundred yards away telling everyone how tough he is on illegals (in an exaggerated Texas drawl as I later saw on KVUE news out of Austin.)

A week before, he was sponsoring the "Governors Border Conference" which announced all the tough measures they were planning.

One, is the "Trusted Traveller, Smart Pass" microchip plan for allowing Mexican trucks to enter Texas easier, and quicker, and travel up our trusted Trans Texas Corridor. With this pass, the truckers don't have to worry about stopping to be inspected, until they reach Kansas City Missouri.

That is really being "tough" about tightening security.

PUULLLEEEZZZZEEE

We caught on to them

They need new victims now. We could of gone to Mexico instead of Iraq for 50 billion, bombed out the Cartels, set up infrastructure and jobs, hospital and schools and they would be fleeing back there. I'm glad the govt is shutting down anchor baby Medicaid, one less incentive for them. Heck with Iran, let's go to Mexico. They need new fools, and we are expendable....not!

Are middle eastern types making use of the southern border????

NEWSCHANNEL 5 Investigation

Terrorists trying to blend in with Mexican culture

A NEWSCHANNEL 5 investigation reveals what the feds don't want you to know. Suspected terrorists are hiding inside the U.S. and they got here by sneaking across the Mexican border.

What we've been reporting for more than a year has been confirmed by a government report just released. (Click here to download the report.)

And a brand new interview by Pakistani investigative reporter Hamid Mir is bringing in more information.

Mir has interviewed some of America's most dangerous terrorist enemies. This time the Al Qaeda commander he talked to gave a grim warning that another attack on America is coming very soon.

"We can attack America anytime," says Abu Dawood during the interview. He also told the reporter that Muslims must leave America.

Mir says, "Abu Dawood told me, 'We are determined to attack America again and that attack will be bigger than 9/11."

The Al Qaeda commander says the attack will be led by Adnan El Shukrijumah. He goes by many aliases but is called Brother Adnan by his terrorist friends.

Brother Adnan is wanted by the feds for possible terrorist threats against the U.S. He's considered armed and dangerous

According to the Pakistani reporter, Dawood said Brother Adnan "had smuggled some dangerous materials from the Mexican border to inside the United States of America."

"It's the kind of scenario that worries everybody," says Fred Burton, a former special agent for the U.S. State Department.

Burton spent much of his federal career studying terrorists, predicting their next move. He now does the same thing at Stratfor, a private intelligence agency in Austin.

NEWSCHANNEL 5 asked Burton about the threat.

"I think it has to be viewed credible, until proven otherwise," he says.

The former special agent tells us the U.S. government is well aware Al Qaeda's been working hard to get a dirty bomb into the country, an explosive packed with nuclear materials small enough to carry in a suitcase.

Smugglers have been caught 300 times in the past four years trying to sneak in radioactive material, which could be used to make a dirty bomb.

That's what the International Atomic Energy Agency told the London Times last month.

But Burton says, "I think if Al Qaeda has a dirty bomb, we would have seen it by now." He says a chemical attack is more likely and the Valley could be a launching ground.

Burton says there are several specific locations in Houston, which if hit, could carry out a devastating terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

However Burton also says if Al Qaeda really does have a dirty bomb, border cities are much more vulnerable to attack, because he says terrorists don't want to get caught.

"You'd want to bring that in right across the border, and you'd want to detonate that as soon as you can," he explains.

We asked who would be at risk.

"You would look at cities such as El Paso or Brownsville," he replied.

For law enforcement, it's a very big worry, says Zapata County Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez Jr.

He testified to lawmakers in Washington about the dangers of terrorists and terrorist weapons getting smuggled in through South Texas.

The sheriff tells us his biggest fear is that something could go wrong with a bomb.

"We're not prepared," he says.

The possible dangers are also a concern to U.S. Congressman Solomon Ortiz. He was among the first in Washington to sound the alarm about dangers at the border.

Ortiz says, "The biggest threat is people coming in and we don't know who they are."

The government does know terror groups like Al Qaeda, Hamas, and Hezbollah are active in Latin America. In fact, members of Hezbolla are already inside the U.S., coming in through the Mexican border.

We're also learning these Middle Easterners are changing their Islamic names to Hispanic names, buying fake documents, learning Spanish and posing as Hispanic immigrants.

Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo says there's even a training camp in Brazil teaching Middle Easterners how to blend in to the Mexican culture.

According to government intelligence, Middle Eastern aliens from countries known to harbor terrorists are smuggled to staging areas in places like Venezuela and the tri-border region between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. Then they're smuggled again through Mexico and our border right into the U.S.

There's a big payoff for those who sneak them in. Mexican illegals pay smugglers an average of $2,000. Middle Easterners pay as much as thirty times that amount, up to $60,000!

"I don't think they really care who they're bringing across, as long as they get paid for it," says Texas Congressman Michael McCaul. He put out the report, which also says Islamic terrorist groups may be using Mexico as a refuge.

During our investigation, we found out a lot of people from suspicious countries are crossing right here in South Texas. Since 9/11, literally hundreds of illegal aliens have been caught here from places like Iraq, Iran, Syria, Egypt and Pakistan.

Federal law enforcement estimates only ten to thirty percent of illegals who cross are actually caught.

Governor Rick Perry says, "To think that international terrorists have not already exploited our border is naive."
