Browning Hi-Power or Beretta 92FS?

bountyh...

No, I don't own an LDA, but I do own three 1911s and I have tried out an LDA. It has got to be the best way yet that I have found to ruin a 1911. The second best way would be the C&S SFS kit. Why anyone would want to do anything to a crisp SA 4 to 5 lb. trigger with virtually no take-up or overtravel is beyond me. All the LDA is is some nitwit designer's idea of how to make the 1911 seem safer in the eyes of litigation fearing political types who quake in their sandals at the sight of a cocked and locked pistol. I don't own one because I wouldn't have one. If I won one in a raffle, the first thing I would do is sell it to buy a good gun or more ammo or mags for my existing guns. Thanks but no thanks.

AND, I am glad to see that 2kidadad and Mr. Camp agree that the CZ, while a great gun, is NOT an improvement over the HiPower. I thought that I was the lone ranger on that subject. Both great guns, but no evolution involved here.

de cockers

What is the advantage of a decocker on a pistol? I have a CZ75B and have no trouble lowering the hammer "manually".

I've never had a de-cocking pistol, except for my RWS C225 pellet pistol. I see what it does, but I really see no advantage in it.

Could someone enlighten me?

In making my decision I considered the CZ, Beretta, BHP and a host of others. My decision ended in the showroom, never really made it out to the range. The BHP fit my (small) hands and the difference was very clear (ok, the CZ was very close. Probly the Pach's on my practical made the difference)

Bought it and have never regretted it. Shot other pistols since then and .....never regretted it.

I hope that the supply of 13,15 and 17 rnd mags never runs dry, that makes the decision even easier.

If your hands are more accomidating and they both feel right, hard to argue with buying them both now..... your gonna do it sooner or later. (I was a self avowed one pistol guy, now looking to buy my 5th and 6th)

Have fun deciding, you can't make a wrong choice. We won't let you.....

Are there hi-cap mags available for the CZ? I'm pretty sure it's legal in Calif, since the local hunting store has a couple of CZ-Compats.

STRIDERTEEN: mags with cap above 10 can not be sold in California regardless of whether or not they were made before the ban. You can't mail order them because they can't be shipped here. You also can't buy them out of state and carry them in (at least, not legally). And, a person in California can not give legally acquired high-cap mags in his possession to any other person even if no money changes hands. They got that one covered. You just have to wait until you move out of state. If you have high-cap mags purchased (legally) before the law went into effect you can keep them (for now).

Hey bountyh...there is always that earthquake theory...now if we could just get all the gun owners out of CA and all the politicians in before it happened...hmmm

What is the advantage of a decocker on a pistol?

The decocker allows the hammer to be safely lowered on the pistol thereby avoiding accidental discharges. On some pistols e.g Sigs the decocker lowers the hammer into a safety intercept notch.

One of the main problem with manually lowering the hammer is that sometime the hammer slips during lowering and/or you think the hammer is safely lowered and releases it only to hear Bow!

defox...

Bow???

My dog says bow...as in bow wow...

My gun says Pow or Bang or God forbid Click...

Just kidding!!!

Hey I like Sigs and appreciate their decockers, but do we really need them? I mean, I have been shooting S&W DA revolvers for 15 years and Ruger SA revolvers for 5 years and have never had an AD with either and they don't have decockers.

First off I do like my CZ-75B a lot. I would like it better without the FP block.

I my little mind there is no comparison between the BHP and the CZ.

I wish I still had my old P-35. I hardly ever shot it so I let it slip away. Dumb, dumb, dumb!

Comparing the Cz-75B to the BHP is like comparing a Ford Ranger to a Super Duty Dually. The CZ being the Ranger.

Like I said I like my CZ a lot. I like the Browning High Power more.
I like my 1911's in .45ACP the most. ;)

Beretta too big to carry??????

I don't get the comments that a Beretta 92 is too big for a carry weapon and then go on to suggest a CZ-75b. ??????

If you check the specs. they are both about the same size.

Whazzzz up wit dat ????

Why settle for 9mm when you can have a 40 S&W?

There is also the Beretta 96 series, which are the same size as a 92, but uses the 40S&W round. That being said, I am considering a 92fs Brigadier. Main reason is the price of ammo. 9mm is MUCH cheaper! I have a 96 Brigadier, and love it.

I would go with the Beretta. Its very accurate and reliable. You can find a lot of accessories for it as well. I have even seen 30rd clips for the 92! Miss all 31 times, and you can use it as a baseball bat! :D LOL.....

BTW, I am sticking to Beretta on my next purchase, that way I don't have to buy all new holsters! :p
