Boston Bomber's firearms?

The media and politicians do, and that makes the issue worth watching. They'll try to spin this into appeals for new gun control.

Seems an awful lot of people on this forum do, too. The media and politicians would do their thing if these idiots had had paintball guns. As long as they see to it the little punk who survived is hung out to dry, I don't care. YMMV, as always.

Really, I think this is going to put an end on gun control.

With it being nationally reported that this was a "pressure cooker" bomb and rumors that it could have been made with home made gun cotton or powder from fireworks, I don't think any gun control has a chance of stopping the next school rampage. I'll bet pressure cooker sales saw a peak in the weeks after the Boston bombing.

Plenty of places one can find directions on making nitro cellulose. The only abnormal ingredient is sulfuric access, but almost any 16 year old has access to sulfuric acid. I can't imagine Auto zone will start refusing car parts to 16 year olds.

It doesn't, and we know that. Does the general public? That's the difference.

As long as there are guns, there will be folks who want to push controlling them as responsible social policy.

Sorry Tom, let me rephrase that: With all this news coverage of these bombs I don't think the next school rampage will use a gun. If they don't, blaming guns will not be an option.

There seem to have been some attempts to make a big deal out of the terrorists fighting the police with guns, but it doesn't seem to have gained much traction. If the public incidences are with bombs there won't be any steam at all to push gun control.

The disappointing truth of the matter is that they'll just wait until the next rampage in which a gun is used. The intervening ones not involving guns will be treated as awful but politically-neutral tragedies.
