Boston Bomber's firearms?

Anyone hear or seen anything that details the firearms that the brothers had? I saw that it has been reported that they didn't have permits to carry. Or the gun owner permission slip that Massachusetts gives out for you to buy one. Not sure if you can actually get a CCW permit in that state.

I heard a few reports on Friday that they were shooting at the LEOs with long guns. And I read today that along more IEDs they found 250 rounds of ammo. But no word on what kind it was.

I would think that if they were using scary Black Rifles (or Glocks) the press would have been all over it by now.

I heard a news report on the radio that mention two handguns, no other details.

I am reading now of reports of two handguns and a rifle.

Weapons were not licensed so illegally owned.

You can; a Class A firearms license gives the bearer the right to carry concealed, in addition to a number of other gun-related privileges. However, MA is a may-issue state, so a resident's ease of obtaining a Class A license depends on the whims of local law enforcement.

This topic is currently being discussed in L&CR at the following thread, which includes a link to a map:

http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=522925

Class A licenses are reportedly nearly impossible to obtain in Boston proper, but are routinely issued in many rural areas, including some "outer ring" Boston suburbs.

Disclaimers:
  • I have never personally attempted to navigate the MA licensing system and I do not consider myself to be an expert on the subject.
  • I have no idea whether the Boston bombing suspects have ever possessed, or applied for, a MA license of any type.

Saw a report about two rifles and a BB gun. Saw another about an M-4. I'll let this run a bit. Might be interesting and relevant.

One might argue that if a monster with an M-4 is trying to break into your house or hiding in the backyard - you might want equivalent weaponry.

I saw Chris Wallace ask Diane Feinstein if the citizen might have a need for a gun - she answered with the Biden shoot in the air crappola. Sounds like a plan to me.

I saw that as well about the M-4, but didn't link to it because they didn't seem to confirm it.

I'd hate to think that it was Officer Collins' patrol carbine.

I would love to know what weapons 2 people of moderate training could hold off 90% of the police in MA with. I'm thinking something Klingon!

I am not sure what the weapons were. I did catch the report that they fired 200+ round in the shoot out with police. That was earlier today when I was on break at work. It was stated that weapons, explosives, and ammo were found in the dorm room of one of the suspects.

I read that over 200 rounds were exchanged. Period. I took that to mean a lot of justifiably jumpy Boston/Cambridge cops dumped a lot of lead in the general direction of the suspect's muzzle flash.

At night, against a cop killer, suspected terrorist bomber, that wouldn't be unexpected.

I read a short article how the Boston thing might "inspire" more gun laws.

Ummmmm they were already breaking the law in multiple ways. What about that do the "more gun law" people do not get?

Amazing........

NY Daily News...

The NY Daily News ran a new article about this very subject.
Some net savvy TFLer can post it up here but if my recall serves, the suspects had 1/one stainless/nickeled Beretta 92FS 9x19mm, a Glock 22 .40S&W with regular magazines(unknown #) & a M4/AR type rifle; unknown brand/caliber(possible 5.56mm).

It's my understanding via a Fox news article, one of the brothers dropped a magazine from his handgun and showed the Mercedes driver a bullet from the mag to prove he was serious. That's all I have.

I've found no mention, in the Daily News or elsewhere, of the exact guns used by the suspects. According to a report published this evening in the Huffington Post, White House spokesman Jay Carney said explicitly today that he was "...not going to characterize ... what weapons may or may not have been recovered."

ClydeFrog, unless you can provide a source for this very detailed description of the weapons in their possession, it's not too credible.

Bylines...

I've done it before & I'll do it again...
I'll see if I can track down the New York area media article. It might be the Post. I'll dig around; ;).

The New York Times mentions an M4 carbine, two handguns, and a BB gun... This has been fairly widely reported for a couple of days now. There's nothing there about models, magazine capacities, etc. Which may be just as well, in the current climate...

Well, that IS a plan. However, probably not a good plan. I think it was General George Patton who said, "No plan survives first contact with the enemy."

The news paper shot of Diane Feinstein, with an AK, complete with Drum Magazine, finger on the trigger, is on lots of Blogs! Silly old Lady.

These two young men had no compunction about killing people, what a senseless loss of life. Would you not think 6 months in Russia would have voided their application for Citizenship?

Two 12 gage blasts in the air! That's all you need. Oh that's illegal? No!
