"Best" pocket .380?

Good guns no doubt, but a large .380 will never increase in value like an HK P7 which is the same size, albeit heavier. With Beretta re-releasing the 84/85 series in the U.S., I don't see demand increasing for a large .380 as there are other alternatives, especially ones that are smaller, and lighter.

The "Rolls Royce" of anything will always go up in value. One of the Sig .380s was very light and had an aluminum frame. Suitable for a suit or sportcoat inside jacket pocket. It may have been the older P230 model.

Re: Kahr breakin period comments

Yeah, I agree, 600rounds is excessive. I got hoked on Kahrs when I picked up a LEO trade-in K9. If you are at all interested in Kahrs, this is the one to get.

But, for lugging around, the all-metal K can be a bit of a load.

My CW has been great out if the box, but the P380 took some devotion.

Kahr support was very good. When I called about issues at the 200-round mark, they sent a replacement recoil spring...not sure it made any difference.

I appreciate Kahrs and deal with them for what thay are...as a lightweight small functional pistol in the pocket class, they serve very well. I don't see anyone shooting IPSC with them, and you won't.

Were I to do it over again, I would have broken in the P380 with hotter loads.

NOW...is the P380 a Seecamp? Well, no........ I have Seecamps in 25 and 32. The dowry for a 380 is a bit steep, and the bite from a 380 in the Seecamp package would be a bit rough.

It's too soon to try to decide. Bought my first handgun over a year ago: the Sauer 38H, then the modern Sig 232 and WW2 Mauser Hsc.

Today bought a .380 PPK (my first PPK), "Made In W. Germany" but manufactured in France, proofed/tested in Ulm an der Donau.

You have some classics! The HSC is a stunning weapon, I have one my father brought back as a WWII was trophy. AND finding a German-made PPK is wonderful! Mine is a :( SmithWalther <sigh>

The Sig 232 though is what the PPK should have been. Love mine, but I am torn between the sheer NEATNESS of the PPK and the cool utilitarianism of the 232. I am kind of sucker for art deco weapons, so I tend to gravitate toward the PPK. And this art deco fixation explains why I admire the HSc.

My LCP is a pretty good pocket pistol with the Hogue hybrid
grip installed.

The inside of my slide had extremely rough tool marks that caused
a few stoppages. It looked like a tool bit tip broke at the Ruger factory'
and created a surface like the slide serrations on an M&P.

I took some fine sandpaper to it and it's all good now.

I wish Sig would make a PPK-sized P232. It is the size of a Walther PP.

I've owned the LCP for about 5 yrs and recently acquired a Sig P238. Although the LCP is very easy to carry/hide in the pocket the trigger is quite long and heavy. The little Sig really impresses me with its ability to hit targets out to 25 yds. The Sig has really great (night) sights.

Best 380?

Wow a 1000 people will have a 1000 favorites.
For me a really serious 380 weapon would have to be the all similar
Sig Sauer P238
Colt Mustang
Kimber Micro CDP

Alright stop it with all the P238 comments. I want one of them sweet pistols so bad it's not funny. They are so sweet I handle one Everytime I'm in PSA, which is pretty often. Yall are gonna make me violate Cheapshooters rule and sell one to get the Sig. HA

I will put in another vote for the taurus 738 tcp. I love to go and shoot mine, I would like a p238 or a kimber micro to compare it to though.

I'm waiting on it being on sale again at my local dealer. I bought a S & W SD9VE at the end of last month and they had them for $179.99. I should have bought it then but my mind was on the pistol I went to get. I only knew Taurus as a gun with a bad reputation but I have traded for a Taurus revolver since then and it is great and my research indicated I had been hasty with my opinion.

Jennings

How about Jimenez? AKA Jennings.
I paid $50 for one, one of my brothers kids found it in an alley.
I ain't making this up.:) And besides, the gun worked.

I may not be the Sterling member that I want to be, I found this shot in Saturday Night Specials. Right here on Firingline.com

We just ran 100 rounds through a JA 380 today, it ran flawless and is every bit as accurate as my TCP at 10 yards, grouped them all in an 8" paper plate. The trigger takes a little getting used to, but for what they are they are fine. I wouldn't carry it, simply because of the design.

I've only had one... And liked it... The Taurus TCP 738

I usually carry it in this galco tuckable

It is a point and shoot shooter-- sights are worthless blocks of indecipherable black plastic

Well, got my cw380 pistol back from Kahr and my first trip back to the range resulted in 3 failure to feeds in 30 rounds. FML. The rounds are getting caught up in a downward position right at the bottom of the feed ramp which locks the entire pistol up until I stick my finger in from above and push the round back into the magazine which results in a nice finger pinch too.
I spoke to Kahr about it today and they think my problem is the Winchester White Box ammo I've been using. Is is flat tipped and apparently the cw380 doesn't like that. I'm going to give some extremely round Fiocchi a try for my next range visit and see how that feeds. It kind of stinks that a modern firearm has to be so picky about what it likes to digest but if I can get 50 rounds of the Fiocchi downrange without a hiccup I'll just stick with round tip bullets. I'm afraid to even try hollow points in this thing.
On a side note I bought an LC9s Pro and put 50 rounds through it without a single hiccup. I can't believe how great the trigger is on it compared to the previous LC9. Ruger really hit a home run with it. The trigger is 100 times better than my previous LC9 and I already have enough faith in this LC9s to make it my daily carry.

A lot of the small guns are ammo sensitive, either the profile of the bullet or the velocity can screw things up.

Glad you like the LC9s Pro, it's also on my buy list.

I put a little bright red nail polish on the front sight and I found that it helped me a lot. I can shoot it more accurately than I thought possible.

I was carrying a stainless steel 1911, all pretty, in a holster, and getting out of the pick up it fell to the pavement! Plus, I've read that some unscrupulous police will confiscate a gun even if carried legally. The point I took from it all is that a carry piece should be ugly, cheap and reliable. It should not be the focus of any strong attachment. I carry a KelTech.
